I remember the iRO security breach that prompted many to jump ship for private servers; YARE, Weiss .. Aegis.. eAthena.

I remember when no one used the term "pro" to describe an individual that is apparently better than someone else at pressing the same combination of buttons repeatedly.

I remember when I was part of a linkshell that downed Nidhogg on FFXI and it was a big deal. (long time ago)

I remember when WoW didn't exist.

and most importantly: I remember when MMOs were supposed to be fun. Now it's just an epeen contest of who can get better gear, do more damage, play better than you, etc.

It's all because of us. Money talks. We keep paying for all this stuff/watching the stuff on TV/buying the same products/playing the games we say we apparently hate.
