Default Grammar and vocabulary on the internet

Now, it's understandable that people, including me, often make mistakes in our grammar and vocabulary while chatting on the internet.

However, I've ran into folks (in other forums, mind you) who brag about typing in ways that are hard to understand, and when challenged about this, proclaim, "If I type correctly, then I can't make fun of a grammar Nazi like you!"

I take pride in the fact that I at least attempt to type as well as I can on the internet.

Now for the actual topic, odd and probably meaningless as it may be.
What do you think about the way you type?
And how about your opinion on other people on how they type?

I know I make mistakes, and I honestly could care less, but I try to spell everything correctly and crap just so I can do better when I'm actually writing stuff. As for everyone else, as long as I can understand what they're typing, I don't really mind how they type. i mene dey can tip lik dis if dey want, but in my eyes I can read that and I don't really mind, I used to be like that when I was younger and thats how I typed because in my opinion it was much faster, eventually when they mature they'll learn a more proper way.

Those that can't type decently without going 1337 are probably ( stereotyping!! yay ) big fat losers that aren't doing good in life and needed to be unique.

I like reading something readable. Lito typos are fine for me..and I kind of like those...messed up words sometime. Like Little = Lito... You = u ( saved me hours of fun )

Actually being a fat loser myself and knowing a few fat losers online they don't use 1337 speak. Only people I've ever seen use 1337 are asians. Call me racist if you want but that's what I've seen.

Such things can have a huge effect on the impression of a statement.

For example, to use a common example.

    A sentence without punctuation.
"A women without her man is nothing".

On way of punctuating a sentence.
"A women, with her man, is nothing".

Another way of punctuating a sentence.
"A women: without her, man is nothing"

Each statement has a different meaning.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear.

You shout and no one seems to hear.

i like my typing, when im pissed i usually become a grammar nazi, when im feeling queezy/regular i just type out randomly, and when im happy for some reason, now for example, i dont really care about capitalization and spacing between sentences.

    serious cockness.

There's a bunch of grammar mistakes/typos in my posts. And half the time they get quoted and keep reminding me that I made a mistake ._. and then I see it again and again and again just sitting there.. like a cockroach... and I want squish it soo bad.. and .. wow I went off topic there.

    Lesson of the day:

I type as normal as I can. I know I make mistakes here and there, but I doubt somebody would suicide over it.

Hehe none of those are grammatically correct

I notice one thing about my typing. I overuse commas. One more thing is that I sometimes type a word misspelled, "seperately", for instance. I know it's spelled the wrong way, but I still do it every time.

Most of us can already read stuff like that and translate it without much trouble.
Dictionary says the correct term in this situation for the sentence to be grammatically crisp and correct is a lot.

when im feeling normal i type normally... and i am liable to make a bunch of mistakes

i never use proper grammar like capitalizing or commas or whatever because i cant be bothered

oh yeah also apostrophes... i dont use them either in forum posts. i basically type slightly better than i do when im on IM. on average though id say my grammar is ok and doesnt piss anyone off.

i love it though in arguments (on the webbernets) when people go into raging defence mode and start using perfect grammar... its so deliciously lol-worthy... its like they think their opinion counts for more if they type perfectly, or that people will take them more seriously.

ive seen ronin make a ton of relevant arguments and decent posts in debate threads and his grammar often sukz ballz (no offence ronin you were just the first example to come to mind)

one thing i will say though.... i HATE it when people use LOOSE instead of LOSE

i also hate this: "this game is much better then that game" ARGH

also another popular one is "i could care less" now i know this is subject to regional variations but come on people... look at it carefully and logically. it should be "i COULDNT care less"

yeah, those three things there are quite popular mistakes on these boards but also on the internet in general so i just ignore them since im sure i do alot of things which annoy other people equally.

so yeah, this isnt school so you dont gotta type real perfect like. but also this isnt IM so at least take some time to type out most of your words and at least try to check that your post makes sense. which most peop do anyway, so ive no need to complain yaaaaaah

I don't judge on grammar or spelling, just how many smileys you use in one paragraph.

Because of this topic, itself, has probably influenced many of us Onrpg-ers to type properly. Knowing myself (and others), I usually type as best as I can; of course referring to real life grammatical punctuation rules. Ahh, this topic, so funny.

By the way, Cingal, you spelled "Woman" wrong.

If I'm in a game or a chartroom then I don't pay attention to my grammar, but if I'm on a forum or something like that I do.

And just for the record, you can download spell check. =3

I don't type that well. Mainly because I almost never proofread and if I did, I would find a lot of mistakes. It doesn't really matter to be though. As long as I can read something without having to squint like the sun's in my eye; I won't complain about typing on the internet.

Internet grammar and vocabulary is a whole different world compared to the grammar and vocabulary you use in your English class. Let's keep it that way. It's a lot more unique don't you think?
