Reputation: 192Sniff im europian.. can i play?
yay for Chinese mmos~! even tho these arent the best of new Chinese f2p mmos...
Reputation: 11I have been told that they have both the euro AND NA rights so I do not see why not.
And Meteo, I have played CHildhood in Chinese and I personally feel it is one of the top MMOs that have come out of the country known for making clones of their own games (TQ Digital anyone?)
And yes, that was the Secret Online that was licensed.
Reputation: 13secret looks like an underdeveloped WoW with loads of bugs and worse graphics. sprite design is somewhat similar though.
Reputation: 733i hope the 1st pic on mmosite from secret is on low gfx... it looks a bit unappealing to me

I should update this but all my effort went into writing this lousy excuse.
Reputation: 11Secret Online looks pretty good when on highest settings on a computer that can handle it. Not as good as WoW, but close. Bugs should be minimized in this release as well.
well i reckon i shouldn't have been expecting high quality games.
Childhood Online is insta fail for me (cute game)
Secret Online doesn't look all too impressive either.
Isnt Steven Wade the same guy who brought us Immortals, and went on 3 page rant at a certain mmorpg fansite about how "fans of mmorpg" ruined his game. And was connected to IE , and whats his name who is under the gun of DA for the mass billing fraud in Horizen?
This is really just the beginning for Zyon Games, You will see websites and new videos for both our first two titles, and our next two very soon!
It's very cool for me to watch you guys talk about my games now. I have been reading these message boards for awhile now..mostly market research :3
But I think you will be very happy with our 2008 lineup and I look forward to all of you playing my games, becoming a part of the zyon community, eventually spending unhealthy amounts of time and money on zyon games...
You will grow to hate me and zyon games, but for some reason you wont be able to stop playing our games...you'll curse the day you ever heard of us...or at least that's how it worked for me, Ultima Online..World of Warcraft...Give me back my youth!
Well...kinda sorta...I was brought on to that company as a consultant. I got out before things went downhill. Sadly, they didn't take my advice *shrug*I never went on any rants, but I do think they used my name after i left

Reputation: 11If you took a look at the press release the games are launching months apart. Yes, he worked for New Game World but was given no resources to work with there. How do I know? I worked with him over there and saw first hand the train wreck that is NGW.
Also, considering that most games from Asia have spotty (at best) patches to be translated and supported, I see no issue. So why don't you take a wait and see approach like most rather being shooting down anything that isn't WoW, EQ2 or Eve?
Reputation: 13I'm not shooting down any thing I'm just saying that he is cocky as hell releasing 2 games at once. Chances are it's more grindy games like the ones we already have. In all honesty I personally spent about 2 hours on WoW before quiting that garbage also repetitive as hell just like most mmorpgs out there.
Reputation: 11Are you not understanding that there is going to be several months between the releases? I am very clearly reading the lines that say "Early Spring" and "Late Spring". That's a 3 month gap. Nothing cocky about that. Looks like to me he is trying to set up an MMORPG portal not unlike OnNet (GamesCampus) ijji.com and others.
Reputation: 13Ok now come with me on a little tour of gaming companies that did the same. IJJI? name one game of IJJI that survived for a decent amount of time? a lot of IJJI games would die within months after release. G-Potato released many games with a small period of time between them results: all games sucked but SCO which they had to give upand now G-Potato is as much crap as IJJI is. Aeria games? Not a single good title you know why? Because they released games too fast one after another like popcorn. TQ digital also releasing 2 new games (I'm not even going to go into this company I'll just laugh).
Now that I gave you solid facts show me gaming company that produces games at the same rate and actually has at least one decent game.

The Chinese at it again...
Secret Online is an absolute World of Warcraft rip-off. Probably the closest you'll ever find to the original.
- Same graphics
- Same animations
- Same battle system
- Same visual skill effects
- Same sound effects (I suspect some were directly ripped from WoW client).
Check it out here if you don't believe me.
I can see why a publisher would be interested by this title.
Basically if WoW is P2P and has 10 millions subs, how much money can I make off a WoW clone that is F2P ?
The sad thing is that Secret Online will most likely be quite popular for these reasons. It's just too phony for me, I'll pass.

Childhood Online, on the other hand, seems to have an interesting battle system but I think I'm too old to play 2 year old characters, I'll also pass.
Reputation: 192I think it looks better than wow..
