Netease said to be licensed foreign online game Starcraft Online.

China's leading online game operator Netease.com Inc. (NTES.NASDAQ) is likely to make its first step on being licensed to operate overseas online games in the near future.

Caijing Magazine reported that the first foreign online game to be operated by Netease, which used to rely on independent R&D, will be Starcraft Online, developed by US-based Blizzard, quoting an industry insider as saying.

Netease CEO Ding Lei didn't confirm the market saying, adding that the company is observing many online games and has not signed any formal license contract.

On an industry meeting earlier this month, Ding disclosed that Netease will strive to provide more game products by being licensed foreign games and co-developing games with foreign partners.

blizzard already denied they are making a starcraft MMOG ,and it isnt even being considered as an option by now.

Anyway..from what I've been hearing, the next MMO is gonna be a Diablo one..which would probably be a better move, cos I'm sure Diablo has a lot more fans than Starcraft does.

Its a failure in translation from what I see and have actually heard. They have rights to publish starcraft, but nothing was said about any type of MMO. As far as I know and what has been confirmed on my end, these rights relate to the Starcraft sequel that will be released.

About number of diablo's fans ... You can't count them, so far I think Starcraft has much more. Starcraft was, is and will be the best RTS avaible on the market (as soon as starcraft 2 will be avaible ).



If Blizz will agree to make a Starcraft MMO , I hope they won't fail it as they have failed WoW ... =/

amazing how you can already place WoW above a product that isn't even (considered being) released/developped. WoW-glorification to the next level ...

i always wonder how it is people just don't seem to learn anything.
especially when it comes to Blizzard. You can speculate all you want, you can "hear, read or seen" whatever you want, it's not true unless Blizzard says otherwise.

i personally don't believe in either Diablo MMO and Starcraft MMO, since basically, in the very early stages of the announcement of their new MMO, they exclaimed it would be something revolutionary.

I would love a Diablo MMO, that would seriously be awesome. not so much on starcraft. never got in to the RTS and sci-fi MMOs arent my thing. i just hope its not just like WoW. i love WoW, but I dont want the same game. but knowing Blizzard their gonna deliver.

I LOOOVVEE starcraft but i just cant see myself playing Starcraft online and I also love WoW but dont like Warcraft. SC should stay RTS and if they make a new mmorpg it should not be futuristic (sc online).
