Need help with HL2 mods!!!

I just downloaded Gmod 9 and Smod tactical delta 5 and I was sad to find out that each of these required Counter Strike source. Since I am not intending to purchase this game, is there any way i can still play these mods without having to pay? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

If you don't have any Source game (Like Half-life 2, Counter Strike: Source, DoD:s , EP1, EP2, TF2 or Portal (Im not sure about that one)) YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO PLAY ANY MOD OR USE SDK TOOLS !

As Long as you have an ability to download and use SOURCE SDK BASE (Tools tab), you are able to play ANY mod wich is for source (some of them will need basic models from, for example, ep1 ... while you don't have it, you will just see BIG RED Error model in place of that missing model).

If you won't have Half Life 2 , You will not be able to play Garry mod 9 at all.
Garry mod 10 is stand alone version, it doesn't need HL2 anymore.

Nope, won't work. You need every valve made game (buy the valve complete pack) in order to play mods. If not, your screwed.
