Several ancient prophets, the myan calendar, and even the Homeland Securtiy's super computer says an epic event will occur in 2012.
By what many prophets and the mayn clanedar says, its the end of the world. How do you define "The end of the world" is the real question.
It could mean mass genocide, the wrath of god, armegeddon, or just the way we percieve life as it in now.
Me, I think its an alteration of how we percieve ourselves in this vast universe.

2012 is just going to be another year, your friends are dumb,Mayans can kill themselves. (Or are they already dead?)

nothing , another typical year in our avrege borign life .
might be some new mmos .
Pinguins will rule the world.
nothings gonna happen ******s. future depictions of doom and gloom are as common as depressed teenagers on myspace.
something as wishy-washy and vaguely defined like that is bound to be promoted so that people can say "i told you the world would change" without actually having any proof.
Reputation: 34Well, there is no way that you can be sure that nothing will happen, just like no one can be sure that something will happen.
Unless of course you had a time machine. If so, can I have one too?
LOL
(PS - I doubt anything will happen either, but I do accept that there is a possiblity that something may happen)
Reputation: 192012= Judgement daythe machines will rise!!!! :X was watching terminator..
Lets wait and see.
yes you can be sure, you can rule out almost everything
comets - no because we would have seen it coming by now
global warming/noahs flood - no because that isnt going to happen in four years time
worldwide revolution/nuclear war - not going to happen given todays state of politics
you can be far more certain that something is NOT going to happen than you can for saying something WILL happen.
Well according to Assassins Creed there will be modern day Templars trying to find ancient artifacts to gain power and take over the world oh, and also kill all the assassins.
According to me.... It will just be any other year.

Reputation: 34Well, assumptions can be made using various data sources to predict certain things as you say, or more accurately that certain things will not happen.
However, it would be ignorant of us to believe that we know even a fraction of what the world/universe holds. There is more that we do not understand than that which we do.
This uncertainty will always create a probability, even if unlikely, that a given scenario may happen.
Any who, my point is that it is possible that Nostradamus, the Mayans, etc did in fact predict accurately the end of the world in 2012. Even if the chance is only 0.00000001%, it is still possible. Something as epic as the end of the world is probably out of our comprehension, or ability to predict one way or the other anyway.

no. people get bored with their own humdrum existence and dreary lives so they like to dream up fantastical posibilities to make their existence more exciting.
all predictions of disaster are self fulfilling prophecies. we hear about the sucessful predictions because its all in the media. the thing is that most people forget that for every successful prediction there are thousands of unsuccessful ones. but believers cling to this tiny shard of pseudo-evidence as a chance of real proof.
nobody ever sees change coming. its usually only with hindsight that things become clearer. predictions of the end of the world are a crock of alarmist shite. the only way i can see them being useful is for insurance companies who could play up to the hype and get everyone of their customers to pay for "end of the world protection paint, one coat is guaranteed to protect you and yours from all biblical/natural/supernatural apocalypses"
Reputation: 1151Isn't it supposidly because the Myans stopped making their calandar after that date? Maybe the dude was like "**** this, I'm sick of this shit"...oorrrrrrrrr maybe he got sick. Maybe he died and nobody cared enough to finish his project.
All I know, is that I don't really care.
