I use an overall package. Norton 360 works well for the whole deal, you can use it on 3 PCs as well.

None, if you're wondering where you can get a free one.

    I don't use anything.

    Thats right, I said it.

I just watch my shit, watch what I download, and watch what I do. I'm my own virus protection.

if you resort to buying dont get norton. all it does is eat up all your resources with its ******ed update processes and the scans are next to useless. although it did protect me from a link i clicked on in IM once.... but that was my own fault, so i dont really thank norton for that.

zone alarm i used for wuite a while on my home computer and also avg.... but i cant remember if that has a firewall as well. i dunno, the other suggestions here seem pretty good.

    lawl.

I bet you anything, if you scan your shit, you'll have a shit load of viruses.

Backdoor things get by you, even if you are careful, trust me. Tis the reason I've been interested in investing in security lately. I thought I was careful, but in reality I had quite a few viruses.

I have been using Notron for quite a while. I allow it to scan when I am playing MMOs and doing other things and its never ate up too much resources where I notice any difference.

I find Norton 360 very useful and its works well with Vista.

My wife prefers McAffee and she is not to experienced with computers. She enjoys it for the fact its user freindly. She renewed her subscription to McAffee Security Suite 2008.

If it killed your internet, it due to a virus/trojan that had to be resolved by locking down the network first. From what I see, McAffee is very user friendly with their informative menu system.

I scan almost weekly, and usually only have a few tracking cookies.

It could be because all I use my connection to do is play games and check OnRPG. And listen to music.

Or maybe its because I made some VERY basic security on my home router. Hmmmm.

i'm surprised that no one mentioned Comodo firewall.
its less of a resource hog than zone alarm and offers more protection.

    http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

only small problems i ran into were torrenting and using steam, but a quick google search fixed that.

    I'd recommend Comodo as well.
