This game wouldn't work, even if it was possible now a days. There nice ideas, but nothing more then dreams.

Ability to design custom weapons and the power will be pased on how many pieces there are and certain more pieces will make it charge faster or shoot harder or bigger type of shot and better range. It would also have the ability to make the weapons glow aura in any color you want in any part of it which would make completely custom weapons.
Then there would be different pieces to create like Sword, Shield, Gun, Engine, Shoulder, Head etc..
Another function would make it realistic as in if a weapon's damage is way higher than a certain armor then it will cut right through and even show a animation depending on the angle of the cut, stab, shot etc.
You may be thinking it's impossible but here's the big thing that makes it very possible. The graphics would be very basic, not fancy at all. No blurs or HDR just basic colors like runescape but of course you'd be able to see for very very long ranges which also might be dependant on your mobile suit.
You own mobile suit would come out of your own pocket to originally build and after passing a test the military would hire you and repair it when it gets damaged or destroyed without costing you anything.
To make money in the very start of the game you'd be issued a standard type of generic mobile suit so you can kill with that without costing you anything and then eventually design your own.
The game would be fully 3d and have a decent engine allowing you to actually lift off from the earth and then fight in space.
Would contain many enemy npcs so it wouldn't be just pvp but it also wouldn't be grinding in any way as there would be no levels just ranks which raise your ability to do certain things that you're rewarded for your performance. The game would not be room based.
The game's style would go something like this 'Private Serix! the rebels are attacking our mother ship and we're very short on men. Go help them out!' and then you try to get there as fast as possible and stop the attack.
Things could be destroyed like cities and ships but there would be auto spawning npcs from main undestroyable areas that would repair it and you could keep stopping them from repairing it.
Be 2-3 factions. The game would play something like Planetside except with mechs and all this otherstuff I've mentioned. That's the kind of way you'd interact with other people other than the few npc things.
For example one side would make a raid on the other side's colony which would be eventually stopped but would take a very long time if no others played. There would be timers and animations for everything showing things being built and making it all as realistic as possible.
If there was a lot of people stacking on one faction then the amount of enemies and the armor and the power of the other faction would increase to a fair level.
Hacking would result in instant permant ban no matter who. However it wouldn't be a bot system. There would be a monitor judging how fast someone is going on every character and when someone was going abnormal fast a gamemaster would look at it, judge it and then ban them if they're hacking.
Be a lot of updates of course to keep adding new and original ideas, the player's suggestions wouldn't be ignored and would be considered.
If you died there would be no you magic teleport back to town. It would say something like 'It appears you have died, you've been restored to your previous self' just like planetside. You would not lose anything but!! If you were using a custom mobile suit it will have to be retrieved by a team. You can select where it is or just select you don't know. Selecting you don't know will take about 10 more minutes to retrieve. Then there will be about 10 minutes of repair time. The recover team wont be seen or be able to be stopped. Your mobile suit would just float around until recovered at which it would slowly fade while being dragged in a direction. During recover times only npc mobile suits can be attacked not players so there would be no spawn camping. However if you select generic you just wait a few minutes and hop in a new mobile suit.
You could choose not to die on earth if you get out of the suit before it gets destroyed and the enemys don't kill you at which point you could run back to base. You could choose to survive in space if you make it out in time and you don't get killed then be recovered by a recover team that's shown but can't be killed however during the player recovery in space you can still be attacked and killed.
You could walk around towns, get guns, walk around colonies, get cool clothes, giggle at watching your character jump into a mobile suit. Guns would be used to kill players that aren't in mobile suits while you aren't either. At which point it would basically be a fps.
There would be training areas and simulations.
The game it's self wouldn't be you're in a suit now go kill blah blah. You would start out as a human trying to join the army, try out all the types of generic mobile suits in simulations to get a feel for them and then pick a generic one to use which can be changed each time you're back at a main base.
Forgot to mention this; If your custom mobile suit was destroyed while it's being recovered you can still go out in a generic one so it's not as if you're out of the game!
If a cash shop was implented (this game would be f2p by the way) they could just limit how strong your custom mobile suit can be or how strong the custom weapons can be and have a very small price to pay.
I really think that game would last for years and only take a few months to make since it would all be pretty much easy coding and the graphics wouldn't be fancy. This would also allow lowerend pcs to play it which would be a big bonus.
Imagine logging into a game with a bunch of friends and saving colonies and cities and having some fun pvp all while using your own tactics and nothing but pure skill. Sure someone could have a lot of armor and take maybe two or three more hits to kill but it's not as if they'd be unstoppable.
Short story; based on pure skill meaning one person can take out five people if they're strategic enough; be extremely fun solo, groups or even alone on both sides just fighting npcs; would be playable on almost every computer; cheap highly effective cashshop; decently easy and cheap to make.
