Resuming Downloads...
Okay, I've got a crappy wireless connection that disconnects every five minutes. As such, I'm rarely able to finish a download without the help of a download manager, and most sites these days block those.
My question, is it possible to resume an interrupted download with Firefox? I know that the file isn't deleted after it fails, and occasionally when I restart the download it just picks up where it left off. Is there any way to do this on command, instead of just randomly?

i dunno. sometimes when my internet gets disconnected it just leaves a partially downloaded file in whatever directory i was saving it to. i have no idea how to resume either so id like to know.Originally Posted by Marineking

Try out the Opera Browser.
It resumes your download, if the server supports.
(One of the reasons why I prefer Opera over Firefox)

bleh opera, anyway problem with flashget is sites such as megaupload won't keep downloading even if you don't disconnect

I'd forget about download managers right now if I was you. I'd be more worried about my flaky internet connection.
Disconnected every 5 minutes is quite severe. I am not sure how or why you would even put up with that.
There must be a solution that can fix this assuming that you are connecting to your wireless router and not stealing a neighbors.
Perhaps if you could tell us about your PC, router, location of PC compared to router, etc we could help you fix that, then a download manager would be virtually useless.

i had to do that for 2 months because it took our isp so long to send someone round.

2months for the ISP to send an install guy! Wow... I woulda just called em and said I'd pickup the modem myself. (which I did before since they wouldn't send someone out to replace my broken modem for like a 2 week eta... I got it the next day myself)

well we phoned up and they said we would have to wait a month for them to get a technician round to drill the holes and install the line, the old line had been cut away.
took them 2 months AND cost us £100 connection charge. plus all the crap we had to order from them like router and filters and junk.
the router broke a year later and then we had to wait for them to send a replacement after about an hour on the phone to customer services where i couldnt understand a goddamn word the woman was saying.

I'm not stealing form anybody (I miss the love!).
Basically, I live in an RV park that gives free wireless internet, as long as you has a wireless card in your computer. The problem is the connection is shitty, so it disconnects a lot (And I was exaggerating a little by "every five minutes," it's usually pretty good, but some days it truly does disconnect a lot).
Thankfully, in two weeks I'm moving back into a real house and getting High Speed, Unlimited Cable Internet.
I get a orgasm just thinking about it...

No point trying to fix their busted setup (no doubt related to the proximity of the router to your pc).
