    Default Brawl Sells A Million

    Brawl goes Japlatinum

Gaming phenomenon Super Smash Bros Brawl has now sold over a million copies in Japan, making it the fastest selling Wii game there so far.

Even though there were shortages in some areas, Nintendo reports that 1,080,000 units have been shifted. This is even faster than the popular Wii Fit, which took a month to pass the million milestone.

Gamers in the US have just under a month to wait, Brawl will be out on March 9th. PAL regions have yet to receive a release date.

Anyone else feels this may be right up there with Halo 3? Brawl has sold about 800,000 (or more) in it's first week in Japan alone. I wonder how it will fair in America and Europe during their release week.

I guess you could say this is Wii's Halo 3. Though that statement would probably bring a shitstorm with it. So whatever.

Halo 3 was $300 million in the first week. ($170 million in the first 24 hours.)

That's a little out of brawl's league, however, you really don't want this game to end up become like the Wii's halo 3.

After a month I never saw anyone playing halo 3 again.

Considering that Halo had a worldwide release, and that Brawl has four separate dates, it wouldn't be right to add the numbers just yet. As for money raised; of course it would be less because of the price difference.

@No one playing Halo, I suppose it's true. Though I did hear, after the longest hiatus, that two guys were actually still playing. This big dude in my Comm/ Tech class, and one of my wominz's father.

@Brawl ending up like Halo, I doubt it, since Brawl, unlike Halo, is a pick up and play game even after you beat it.

I suppose, although consider that halo sold 1.8 million in the first 8 hours.

I mean even if brawl was world wide, I doubt you'd get a figure like that.

Halo's main feature for me was it's multiplayer, this is the same with many people, there's a lot of content, which after a month got old and boring for me and about 10 other people I'm friends with. Depends on the person I guess.

I sense that SSBB is gonna be an even bigger hit; especially since the replay value is so good. People will continue to buy the game long after the hype's over.

Oh, well. But it does end at 2.7+ million for that week. Not counting the rest of Asia, Europe, America (Canada/MA/SA included), and Australia for Brawl, which had 800,000 that week in Japan.

I'm trying to say that it may be able to compete with Halo on the first sales week, not sales per second.

@Jester, Yeah, I feel a shitstorm brewing, alright. Let's see if it doesn't go through.

Ah, well, I doubt it, but I suppose it may be possible.

Ultimately though it's not about sales it's about how good the game is.

Which when you consider that halo was basically abandoned by most people I know after a month...
