The military is a very valid way to pay for education as well as start one's adult life in a structured environment, something very many people need. Your convictions may speak otherwise, but that doesn't make them law.
The military is also a very valid way to get put in an unjust "war" in a ruined country, kept there beyond your will, and possibly never come home. That outweights anything else.

There are always alternatives to make money.
