Default Which part of US military....

Which part of the US military should I join?

I need something that would accept me in without waiting months and that would have housing and all the needed stuff but yet pay for schooling and (not needed but I want to do this) medical area so I can work to be a doctor.

ps: Something came up so I have to find something to do within the next month or 2 if it keeps up the way its going. Was about to start college in like April but...

So your saying the army? Because they have army, navy, air force, marine corps, coast guard, and national guard. I'd prefer medical field if possible. I'm not best shape of my life but I'm not bad (can't do 20 pushups, cant run a mile ect ect but I'm not bad lol). I'm 18 turning 19 this year. I'm about 5'10 and about 185 pounds.

From what I can tell (By your post), your best bet would be the Air Force. But seriously, the last place you should be asking this is a forum full of hippies and gamers. The above posts are great examples.

Go to a military websites forums (Military.com, for instance). You'll get a lot better answers.

Sorry but this is the only way if things keep up the way they are. Job I applied for is $17.51 a hour but then I have to pay for gas and all the house payments ect. I couldn't live off of that alone, and thats IF I get the job if not then I'd be making like $10 max.

Then I'd lose all hope of getting into college because I'd be working full time to support myself and end up in debt later in my life in a dead end job. So the military is a good way out if you see it through my eyes. I'm about to turn 19 was plaining to join college in April but yeah not gonna happen now I bet.

In the military I could have place to stay and have food. I will have good benefits and be going to school for what I'm working in. Later on I may end up staying to be a higher up, who knows?

Marineking : Thats the main reason I asked 2 other forums I go to. Bad part all of them are gaming forums too haha. I never go to a site just to chat. Thanks I'll go check that site out and send them a email asking for advice.

Try joining the SEALS and become a sexy ass model

Actually, from what I've heard the Marine Corps have the most hardcore training, but the Air Force has the most tactical and by far probably the safest position, that and pilots are revered, although you need 20/20 eyesight and be born with Tom Cruise-Top gun piloting skills.

Also, scratch the army reserves off your list, with the warmonger of a president still in office, even the reserves are in danger, and their benefits aren't comparable to a normal marine.

Best site I can really think of is www.goarmy.com
I'm thinking on joining the mechanics course for a while, due to medical conditions im not physically capable of taking damage, but I can always use mah brain powuh.

None, if you have a shred of sense.

If this current world climate and it's bs leaders has not made you realise that war and the armed forces should be left to people stupid enough to want it, then there's no hope for humanity.

You also need a freakishly high ASVAB score, a college education, flat out amazing transcripts, extensive physical training in order to keep you fit and at peak performance, and much, MUCH more. The cream of the crop make it to flight school, the US Military doesn't trust multi-million dollar machines to anyone at all.

EDIT: As mentioned before, Military.com is your best bet. Kudos to you!

    A) I don't know, I don't live in America.

B ) BS. There are always other ways of earning money than devoting yourself to fight and possibly die, unquestionably, for your government.

Always? I think not. Not everyone comes from a middle-class home with a decent education to get you into college with a good job. The military is a very valid way to pay for education as well as start one's adult life in a structured environment, something very many people need. Your convictions may speak otherwise, but that doesn't make them law.

The military is also a very valid way to get put in an unjust "war" in a ruined country, kept there beyond your will, and possibly never come home. That outweights anything else.

There are always alternatives to make money.

    There's always a choice.

Field medics generally are the first to get shot in iraq.

If this was world war 2; field medic would be the best job since countries actually respect rules of engagement.

Truthfully, right now his best bet is to find something like the navy, they'll get pulled back much sooner than the regular infantry.

FYI Air force is excetinly hard to get into . Also, there are alternatives to going into the army for money for college. I personally find it to be a stupid thing, but if you cannot find any other way then I would suggest being an engineer in it, or being part of a medic squad especially if you are going to be working to be a doctor.

you're probly right. the topic starter just wanted something according to his education which was going to be a doctor, so my best bet is still field medic.

Yes, and what do you think they mean by "Field Medic"? Sitting in the peaceful meadows of Narnia whilst waiting for the soldiers to be shipped back to you?

Hmm, do American field medics get a rifle or a sidearm?
    Just curious.

Sorry ****** but you can't just join the SEALS. Anyway darkhearts I say join the marines. But since your looking for something more medical go with the national guard or the army. If I were you I would go to army.com and read about the jobs they offer. There is lots of jobs in the army, just choose whatever you think is best.

    @Norrin Radds post. Epic.

EDIT: Darkhearts the army is not in the front line and has many jobs to offer. You could also be an army reserve but I'm not sure if that would help pay for college.
