Default PK is killing MMORPG community, you think?

pretty long and interesting article, just follow the link to read - Welcome to the Jungle

i myself hate pk-ed by some random impolite noobs just becuz i'm new or he play longer than me, as the article said (He just launch his skill and attack and my character was just like being hasta la vista baby' by him. And what make everything worse is that in THAT level, THAT's the best spot for hunting! I tried to access the server again several hours after, BUT he's still there. Another hours AND he's STILL there.) in this situation the only thing I can do is talking shit to such idiot like "fxxking no life bastard". Ok then I quit & switch to CoD or Warcraft III (at least e-sport games are all about skill, u beat me just becuz you are better than me)

Today's mmorpg become even sadder, there are more skill-less mmorpgs coming out, you dont have to be talent to play mmorpg at a high level. The more time you spend the more powerful you are. Do I hate PK? Absolutely NO, I like competition but what I hate is the company put too much concern on grab money rather than take care of us (don't get me wrong, I support item mall, it's the best way the company can serve us free mmorpg. But.....you can see the situation now). There are four things the PK system care about: 1)money 2)more money 3)time 4) more time

accept the fact that certain noobs could grind high lvl enough to pk and end up getting pked by other players

I think everyone hates dying or being pked, especially by people way higher than them. But if you cant live with the fact that you will die... then you shouldnt play the game, play a strategy game or something :P

pk is cool as long as i can train without getting killed. i don't care if the outcome is based more so on stats or skill as long as the combat is interesting. it wouldn't hurt for it to be balanced between the two though.

They gotta make a mmorpg with a good combat system like the combat system of PVKii and Dark Messiah. Then that would be a great mmorpg that would require a lot of skill.

BTW: PVKii = Somewhat Free Mod Version of Dark Messiah but without the lvling system that isn't that great.

balancing the pk system is always the best option. Some zones can pk, other no. Just don't make the whole world pkable ... =...= Some might say people will shun away from these maps, why not make it a double XP and drop rate in these maps ppl might dare to go

Pk is the best thing on MMOS...

Otherwise, why the game would be online?

I Remember on tibia, we walking around in a group of 8, ambushing higher levels and killing em. Getting all those expensive stuff. Then getting hunted and getting killed by the same person..., trying to kill and flee, thats the fun.

    deal with it >_>
if u give up before u even try , i dont think u should be in that game at the start . .
    giving up so fast ????
massive pvps happen in all mmorpg (i been in several atleast 30 vs 30 pvps in Gate to Heaven) , and one death probably started it all
but hell nobody care about what started it , they'll be there just hearing the word "PK"
game is an entertainment , some people take it too seriously (especially the one wrote that thing)
well cant blame them . . . for gold farmers thats their life
have fun , hang around with online friends , enjoy

That guy needs to play Mabinogi pvp and stop being a cry-baby about "no-skill" PvP.

Depending on the game, newbies usually are able to call on high level PK-hunters in towns. High level PK-hunters tend to like being called upon to fck up people who mess w/ the new people.

I enjoy an open PVP system. It's cute how people hold their tongue outside of towns.

I love PK in mmorpgs as well, but some games lack the penalty and such that makes it pretty awful (griefers). I don't particularily care if I get pk'd though. Easy enough to run back out and continue, or get your guildies to slaughter the pk'er over and over and over and over.

It isn't that hard to come up with a set of rules in game to prevent the griefing that pisses people off. Things such as:

-flagging the pk'er so they can be killed on site without penalty
-Level restrictions to prevent high lvl ganking lowbies (maybe a 10 level difference or you cannot attack the other player?)
-Different zones. A pk-less newbie zone, zones that invoke the level restriction and pk penalties, as well as open pk no restrictions no penalty contested zones (war between factions, races, etc).

Any who, something like that would keep everyone happy and griefing to a minimum. Some games have systems in place like this, and others only have a half assed approached to it. Oh well, any player joining a game should have read the game restriction before they even started... then they wouldn't cry and whine like babies.

For the most part, open PvP encourage players to spend heavily on cash shop.

Freeloader that didn't spend a cent on the game is going to get pked and suffer heavy penalty thereafter. While the pker can just wipe away any PvP penalty easily with cash shop item.

The system is being unbalance on purpose to help the game company to make money. People who complaint about F2P games being unfair should learn to accept company will always reward the heavy spender.

The best thing they could do is stop supporting games that didn't even had some basic protection against griefing, and just keep looking for a PvE games. Although, I really doubt Korean will release any decent PvE games in the near future. PvE games need more development time/money. Small Korean company just wanna release their cookie cutter MMO and grab as much money as possible.

It sux beiing PKed, but when you get jigh enough lvled you can OWN all the newbs that pis u off! i don mind PK, kinda liked the way Runescape did it. Special PK area where any can get killed, but the majority of the map was non PK.

PK should be available any where. I love what they did with PK in conquer you kill some one you get what's in their inventory; however, if your name goes red from pking and you get killed you don't only drop your inv you also drop your equips.

    >=D I am PKER for life. PVP and PK are the only reason I play mmorpgs. Not the flashy skills, definitely not the grinding nor the socializing. It's the killing baby, blood shed, gore, death, ANARCHY!!!

One of the reasons open PvP is a good feature in mmos.
