Default What is your favorite single player game

My favorite single player campaign so far has to be call of duty 4, it was very short, but sweet none the less. It was able to pull me into the story with some moments that other games don't touch on. It made war look not so pretty, but in a very visually stunning way. You have to love that sniper mission

Next to COD4 i think that san Andreas hits up there. I liked how rockstar was able to hit a very good tone with that game without making it corny. (hot coffee anyone?)

Rpg wise it comes down to oblivion and knights of the old republic. KOTOR let players explore a different side of star wars witch was a very fun experience, but oblivion is a huge and beautiful game that i am still playing today.

Well shit, call me cliche, but Oblivion. Sure everyone in the game looks like they were screwed with the ugly dildo, but that thing did my social life dirty.

Campaign on UT3 is really fun right now, kept me hooked this far which is a huge accomplishment for any game. Normally I just go straight to the online play until I get fed up with it and discard it. UT3 is kind of repetitive, but the maps keep changing and it gets harder and harder. I wish my computer team-mates were better though. If I stop going for a flag to snipe out the enemies, we start to loose because they're too stupid to get the flag.

The combat is just really fun, sniping is really fast-paced even. Had about 44 headshots in a previous game, and about 95 kills overall.

My only real complaint is that there should be more deathmatch missions, rather then all these warfare and CTF missions.

FPS = Call of Duty 4, hands down, closely followed by Gears of War, then Jericho, I LOVE MAH BLOOD

Sandbox = GTA 3, as good as SA was, it didn't have that Sinister feeling that GTA 3 brought to the table, I actually felt like a mobster while playing it.

RPG = I haven't played Oblivion (so kill me) but my favorite of the genre is Fable, and after that Archlord.

    Goblins **** anyone?

I'll also be cliche and say Diablo II. The only rpg where I could just pick it up and play through the campaign using every class and thoroughly enjoy every class for what each is worth. All of the classes kick major ass and the campaign is fairly fun to boot.

As far as FPS, probably Unreal GOLD. Good times.

My favorite game evar. You play as JC Denton, a new agent for the United Nations Anti Terrorist Coalition, who has been genetically altered and augmented with nano machines turning him into the perfect killer. It's your first day on the job, and terrorists hijack a shipment of Ambrosia, the vaccine to a deadly virus called the Grey Death which plagues most of the western world.

The graphics are blargh, but it makes up for that with good art direction, and after a while you forget to notice the shortcomings because you're too caught up with the great plot, the great music and the amazing gameplay. This game really makes you work your noggin' in the fighting. On Realistic difficulty, you can't just run in and gun down an MIB, three commandos and a security bot without some serious firepower (i.e. a GEP gun) and some luck, or a good grasp of strategy and stealth.

    Followed closely by Planescape: Torment

The game is practically a novel with over 80,000 words of written text. It has amazing writing, great characters, and a unique and great setting. My favorite video game story. Anyone who likes good storytelling in video game format should check this out. It's a ***** to get your hands on, but I strongly recommend it.

The plot? You're an immortal amnesiac who wakes up on a mortuary slab with no memory of who he is. Turns out you're in a city called Sigil, which is located at the center of the multiverse. You go out and adventure and collect companions such as a floating skull, or a succubus who has a brothel where people can quench their intellectual thirsts rather than their physical lust, or a suit of armor that want to destroy all chaos while trying to figure out your identity and why you're immortal.

And it asks the great question: What can change the nature of a man?

The combat sucks, but who cares? Most of the EXP rewards comes not from killing epic creatures, but from things like unmaking people by pointing out the logical flaws in their existence. That's right, you unmake someone by proving that they cannot exist.

Oh, and the spells in it are AMAZING graphically. Only other game I can think of that involves a one minute long cut scene for a spell are the Final Fantasy games, and those are summons, not spells.

but you have to admit that the mission where you are moving around with a limb leg and suffering from radiation poisoning is amazing.

even zero punctuation liked cod4 a lot.
