Alright, as most of you don't know, I'm a moderator on the Acclaim game "Bots!!" forum... It's not much of a moderator's position, there is no system of warnings, we can't ban, we can only delete and move.
So, anyway, for a long time a certain member (I won't mention names, I don't want you guys going over there and causing problems) has been very insulting to me and a lot of members of the community there. However as of recent he's been getting very personal toward me, he's been insulting my sexuality, my race and my "interests" as a furry. It should also be noted that he's a 4chan user.

So, considering I can't ban the guy, what would you do? I'm not the type to get into disputes with people, unless needed but, I do have immunity from the rules by being a moderator. Although, I have a feeling a dispute would only make the situation worse.

Alternatively, I could just continue to "Suck it up" and wait it out, though to be honest after several months, I'm getting pretty annoyed.

So, what would you you guys do?

Sorry, I probably would have said that I have already done that. Basically, he blames me for a lot of things which I've had to do, due to being a moderator.

Anyways, could you get into details of what you have talked to him about? how did he act when you told him about him being annoying?

Well, I think... you're really screwed here.

If you can't ban or do anything, then there really isn't much you can do. Perhaps appeal to higher authority or something.

A moderator usually has enough privileges to recommend certain actions to higher powers. In this case, the poster can recommend that a banning be done to a member of the community that is being disruptive or otherwise harming the community. This recommendation can be considered by the higher power and acted upon as they see fit.

Just because the poster is only a moderator in no way (necessarily) means that it is out of his reach per say.

Well, the first time it was more civilised, he explained why and apparently said it was a "just revenge". He believes I'm the cause of getting his guild thread deleted or something.

Seconds time he just flat out insulted me and once again blamed be for his guild thread getting deleted... Among other deletions.

We have a whole thread dedicated to his actions on the staff section. There are over 14 reported events which would be classes as an "infraction" on this forum.

The last we heard from the CR on it was that the "Database is down, so we can't ban him". That was around a month ago... I presume they're stalling.

I don't see how this is an issue you should have to deal with.
You have a person thats blatantly breaking the rules of the forum, so ask one of the mods or someone to ban him. Problem Solved.

no because if you got an ip ban somewhere and just renewed your ip you would still not be able to access that page, i cant remember what its called but there are different parts to your ip address and one of them stays the same no matter how many times you restart your modem.



Cingal.... why not just show us who he is so people here can go and piss him off whenever they feel like it. some people only learn that way.

Make up some very complicated text, how he is harassing the community of the game (eg. You) and that its an offense under some terms of service crap and / or thats the company policy to delete his char database and put all his friends under supervision, if he continues to do so.
Tell him that there is a no warning policy and that you just want to be nice to him and give him a last chance to snap out of it or he gets wiped from the game.

This means threaten him and bluff.

As soon he has something to loose hell stop.
