So many people ***** and whine about DDo being all instanced, and you have to grind those instances to get any levels. To those people, I like to give them something that proves they are wrong.

For those of us who don't play DDO, can you put this in perspective? How much exp do you need to level up at lvl 1? lvl 50? Cap?

DDO levels are different than your typical MMORPG.

ATM there are 16 levels in DDO (mod 6 update). These levels translate from the pen-n-paper RPG (actually its an "adaptation"). In DDO you do have "ranks". Each level is broken down into ranks. After reaching the next rank, you gain actions points that can be spent on class/racial traits. After so many ranks, you level up.

So in MMORPG terms, ranks are actually levels.

He's trying to tell you that even with a good guild and compassionate people helping you, that you can't reach max level in DDO from non-instanced environments. Sheesh, try and pay attention.

another thing that lots of people dont understand is that ddo isnt your average mmo where you go in a forest kill x ammount of spiders and wolves and lvl up like 5 times in 10 minutes.......this game takes patience and people that enjoy a good storyline to play it so that way you can play through quests and such

Going through figures hurt my head, and the way you present them making it worst. The way I see it, until Turbine get their ass together, and put some worthy reward for open area adventure. People are going to grind on dungeon because it's the most rewarding way to level. When these people get bored, they're going to ***** and quit. There's nothing you could do. Show them x figures and tell them it's comparable is not going to be helpful. While you're at it, make sure Turbine remove instance restriction for these zone. Many people are getting fed up with only able to see your own teammate in a suppose "open" area. You do work for Turbine, or am I talking to a brick wall here?

How does instances not fit the D&D universe? Modules (short D&D adventures) = Instances.

D&D is not really a MMO type game, when you sit down to play a campaign or a module, you sit with a few friends and a DM. That translates to instances in the MMORPG genre. But as they have to appease all types of fans to succeed, you will need more than just instance to become a MMORPG, so the "Wilderness" settings were created.

Rewards? Do you even know how the treasure system works in this game? Nope......

Within the wilderness, I dont know what your talking about, but you do find other people (not within your party). There is even a Wilderness with open PvP. So, please tell me what you are playing?

You adressed this to all people complaining about the DDO grind. The fact is I have never seen anyone complain about a DDO grind. This results in your post being completely pointless.

The complaint was about the instances? Did I say anything about grind as in leveling? No... I was talking about grind as in repeating certain instances.....AKA instance grinding.

I really dont like the 3rd edition rule set. I will buy the game again, try it maybe next month. They ve really expanded alot of the content , made improvement according to thier site and the boards are tamer now.

I would have to quote this whole thread just about to show why some of this doesn't make any sense so bare with me:

1. DDO is dubbed as an mmorpg. Instances KILL the mmorpg immersion. They take what could be a huge exciting world and break it down into a room based type of mmo. It is more like diablo 2 than an true mmorpg.

2. So what if you justify the instancing based on what a DM does in pen and paper. If anything, this proves even more so that instancing is detrimental to the mmorpg aspect. I say this because in the pen and paper D&D that I am used to, campaigns are done in an open world. You can go anywhere and meet anyone. A good DM continues the story by leading you as well as adapting to your decisions. Also, within this campaign world, it is generally played over multiple sessions until your character dies or whatever rules/goals you set.

Conclusion:
1. The main point is that you need to decide for yourself if you can cope with or even like the instancing in DDO. If you like the game, play it.

2. I personally think the instancing kills the game for me. I felt isolated in a game world that I expected and hoped to be an open world mmorpg. The pen and paper rules can be easily adjusted to accommodate an open world, but they were not for this game. To me, the game had great potential, but overall is a fail.

I've played the game, and it prob was good. But i didn't like it, got bored real easy, in the beginning allot was party based, now you've got the solo option. But i still didn't liked it. I had the feeling it was so small, don't ask me why tho.

The thing that i did love was the battle system, it was fun.
