Erm...*Raises hand*, hey.
Dave Grohl was quoted as saying that he thinks about Kurt often, even still, and still thinks of him while writing music, citing one of his many sources of desire to play drums as being with him in Nirvana.
So, you're pretty wrong there.
Additionally, Dave Grohl is more respected by metal musicians than the metalheads who love them. Cronos was the first man to give his word to appear on Dave's Probot side project.
Do you know who Cronos is? He's in that band, Venom. The band who pretty much made it possible for most other extreme metal bands to exist. Guess who secured his services for their comeback album? Killing Joke. Killing Joke being that band that inspired and entire different line of metal. King Diamond? That Mercyful Fate guy? Loves Dave Grohl. So does James Hetfield, so does Max Cavalera etc. Tony Iommi, the guy who invented heavy metal guitar requested Grohl to sing and play guitar on a song for him. Do we wish to sit here and, though subjective, weigh up who's opinions carry more weight on the metal credibility of Grohl? I don't think we wish to do such things.
It's odd, they all seem to love the guy. Maybe it comes down to what I said about age. Those metal guys are old enough to recognise that talent is talent, and hating on it because it's not to your taste is immature. I hate Avenged Sevenfold, I think they suck balls, but I don't go around saying Synyster Gates is a shit guitarist. Dream Theater bore me to sleep, but I will debate to death with anyone who questions their musical and instrumental prowess, because they are the dog's balls at what they do.
Dave Grohl is more metal than any basement dwelling, Guitar Hero playing newb, who think they're the shit cos they wear an Obituary t-shirt, dude.
