I'm recently in a project for making a CS:S movie. I'm recording the footage with the built-in source recorder. Here's what I plan to do and what most people suggested:-

Watch and have fraps running and recording.
Edit movie.
They suggested this because fraps requires a very good PC to record with fps lag. Source Recorder causes no FPS lag at all.
After I have recorded all my footage, I try to open them and nothing happens! When I open CS:S and try to open the demos it says "Only one instace of the game can be opened!"
you can only play the demos from within the game. i believe there is a way to convert the demos to an AVI or some other format but as far as i know the demos have to played in game, via a console command
You have to play the demo through css. To do this, open up console and type in "playdemo demoname" without the quotation marks. Make sure your demo file is in your cstrike folder, kthxbai
