damn, was going to make a post.
The 9 series is pretty much going to kill ATI. The 9600 is the mid-range card for the 9 series. The high-end cards (9800, 9900, etc) won't be out for another month or so, and this card already has beat EVERYTHING else on the market.
ATI's high-end cards match the 9600 in price and performance.

Thats like tieing in a race, only you just walked.

As for your specific question, you got the "superclocked" version, which just means it's been over-clocked a bit.
So if you got the super-clocked version of the 9600, it would play as well, or better, than your 8800GT, and you would have saved a bunch of money.

    Here are the benchmarks:

How about compare it to 8800GTS G92? I have that card right now should I do a step up?

Well, the 9600 is probably does very nice when compared to the 8800GTS, but the GTS is probably a bit faster than the 9600.
Wait till the high-end cards from the 9 series comes out. If the 9600 is any sign of things, the higher-end range 9 series cards are going to blow everything else out of the water.
