And no target and autoattack + skills ain't hack n slash.

WHY? cause you kill a lot of enemies at the same time, and its also bloody most of the time...
DDO, isnt bloody. and you dont fight hords like in DW.

Killing alot of enemies + blood is not hack n slash. So every game where you kill alot of enemies at the same time, WITH BLOOD!!! is hack n slash to you?
Anyway i think you mixed up Action role-playing games with Hack n Slash.

well then mention your Hack and Slash games? tell me your term. this is what i consider hack and slash: Dynasty warrior by far the most h&S game... diablo 2 lod is also H&S.

Dynasty Warriors is indeed a Hack n Slash, Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia are the obvious ones in my mind right now. Oh and God of War. And yeah i agree Diablo 2 is Hack n Slash. And dunno bout DDO, haven't played it myself, but thought it played like most 3rd person Hack n slash games.

I see god of war, devil may cry and all that shit like beat'em all ... Diablo, Titan quest, Nox, NwN 1 & 2, Baldurs gate ... for me is hack'n'slash games. So does Mythos

I think personally Hack & Slash focuses less on detail and complexity of character builds and skills and focuses more on how many enemies can I kill in "x" seconds with this sharp blade.character development is de-emphasized.

I think what the OP means is "Action-RPG" like Tales, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, and the like.
