I've never played any MMORPGs so what would be a good game to start out with?
I like more fantasy stuff, not so much medieval or sci-fi.
What was your first MMORPG?

Reputation: 13A good game to start out with if you're looking for a free game would imo be Mabinogi...p2p? Wait for Warhammer Online or Age of Conan, W orld of Warcraft is on a downhill spiral in gameplay, not neccessarily in subscriber numbers (totally my opinion).
Runescape was my first MMORPG.
Reputation: 192RS tho i hated it...
U should do, Holic Domo.. or so..
I say play Maplestory though. It's the best game for newcomers, you'll be addicted instantly and you'll have a lot of fun. Most newbs get very far in the game also.
Grind it not a factor for you so you're lucky. I say use it as you can. If you look, you'll see Maple Story is the biggest game section on this forum, so welcome yourself to them. I think that would be the best choice.
Reputation: 36That's a toughie. I would've mentioned Roonscape but that was probably in beta in the medevil times. Still, try it out. IMO one of the best games around.
I'd hate to recommened it but FlyFF would be a good start. It's the sort of thing you'll definately enjoy at first and might end up hating after a certain lvl.
Reputation: 192Requiem goes cb soon, try the horrid with me..
Reputation: 39Runescape, it's like a gateway MMORPG.
But be warned, you'll love it as you play it but once you leave it you'll hate it.
Reputation: 192True.. i stopped lvl5 lol.. somone made mel 13
I hate rs
Reputation: 28runescape was indeed my first mmorpg too.
but runescape dosent look like mmorpg nowadays.
try diablo 2, Holic, Domo, Shaiya and your set to go.
Runescape, don't try anything with super new innovative features because they'll confuse you, start with a game that covers many MMORPGs out today, which is Runescape.
Reputation: 192I dont agree try User Friendly mmos
what type of games do you enjoy? what are you looking for?

runescape was my first mmo and opened the door into this great genre of gaming
i made it to 112 before going "Is there anything better."
then i found maplestory and got to 69 just because i couldn't make it to 70 and both were the most fun
runescape lasted me 6 years (i still go on now and then)
maplestory lasted me about 8 months
Maplestory, good game, gigantic grind.
Since you're new and you have no idea or experienced what a grind is, you'll go far and have alot of fun with it. So go ahead.
I'd say...try RO. User friendly, and nice community most of the time.
Guild wars is a great way to get into pvp/gvg too.
Reputation: 10No no, RO is the game you go to after you quit your first game. It's a pick me up MMO where you think MMOs have hope because you have a lot of fun in RO and think they'll get better from there.
After the years of playing MS, he quits and tries RO. Gets addicted bam!
Newbie MMORPG people never really have that much fun in RO, believe me I've gotten so many to play and they all quit quickly. Most people play it second and I believe its the best like that.
Reputation: 10RO was my first MMO and I played it, sad as it is to say, for two years as close to 24/7 as I could get. I loved Ragnarok Online... but only because I got into the community quickly as I had a number of friends on it as well.
Communities make games, whether you're new to MMOs or old. If you don't talk to anyone, then it's going to become massively boring to you.
My first was Runescape, but I wouldn't reccomend it to you. Unless you're ok with the word "noob" being tossed about every second, and have no problem with the excessive whoring, that is. But If its just that you don't want to download and you want to try out this whole "new world", give Runescape a shot. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Reputation: 10I wouldn't say start with RS. It's changed along the years guys, it worse now.
