The cost depends upon your state. What state do you live in?

My girlfriend had her first speeding ticket a few weeks ago. The fine was $400. We live in Texas, btw.

It'll be about $200. And it will affect your insurance.

it's your first ticket, you're 17. they'll prolly give you traffic school.

and you won't have to pay anything. except maybe the cost of school for a day.

This reminds me of when my dad stopped at a Stop Sign and waited a few minutes and nobody was around at like 11 at night so we went and the police officer stop my dad right at the stop sign for not stoping. I was like, WTF?

Really, the quota system is different for each different police force.

Over all, I say better safe than sorry and act as if there is a quota.

My teacher, and ex cop in my city, says there are no quota's. What happens if you have a city with little to no crime? I think people say there are quota's and use it as an excuse.

My ticket was like 150, my sisters was more. It all depends on the speeding laws in your area and such. It will put 1 point on your licesnse and your insurance will go up. You can take traffic school to get the point off and your premiums down.

Like i said it all depends on the traffic laws in your city/state though. What I posted above is how it's like in California though.

My first ticket was about $106 for going 40 in a 25. (what kind of buisness streets limit is 25 mph..) with an estimated 4 points which is ridiculous. I went to court and pleaded not guilty in this court room of smelly scary people (which took me a good 2 hours to do) and now I have to go back again to talk with the city attorney to try to lower my points off so my insurence doesn't go up. :l

i live in mexico so erm...
    what's a speeding ticket?

i drive by the cops, drop em a few cold ones, then run off at 60 to my friends house,
it's just that awesome, and unlike you guys getting 100$ tickets, for us it's maybe 100-200 pesos, which comes down to about 10-20$.

    **** yeah, SPEED LIVES

Okay for all of you who cannot drive or what not stop talking. It depends on which state you live in for what happens. Some states have a point system others have different systems. Also it depends on your insurance company if you payments will raise. I got 2 tickets in 1 year under my mothers insurance. I am still on it to save money. We have liberty Mutual, and the first one which I was going 37 in a school zone was about 167 dollars, it didn't raise our bills. I then got a failure to yield and my car got hit. I used my 7 year ability where it is wiped from my records if I don't get any other tickets for a year. I then later got another speeding ticket in my friends residential area at 7 in the morning. I don't know how much that one raised my insurance but it was minimal. So my point is, it can depends what company u have. I had a friend who got one ticket and it rose about $200 every 6months.
As to what Sandy said about the points, and the traffic school that isn't always true. To do the traffic school sometimes you have to go see the judge, and for that they can still denie it. Also in about 20 states the traffic school doesn't work. As well the point system can be anywhere from 1-3 points depending on your state. Luckly for me, my state gave away the point system.

That happened to me, but since i was only .5 miles from my house, some one was able to bring my license as proof. If you are caught with out ur license they will take your information, name, DOB, etc and will find if you do have your license and then just fine yo about 98 dollars for that on top.
Ace I am not quite sure what you are saying, but if you are saying you got caught BEFORE you had a license, then you are probably screwed. In those cases you will usually be unable to get a license until you are age 18. But they might be nice.
