I thought you could only do it through store-bought cds.

You create or buy a CD, you put it in your XBOX and you select "Rip Music".
    Simple.

it's fun when you're playing games like Burnout. I don't want to listen to their crappy soundtrack, personally, so I make my own.

Evry one in this thread is far off, there's much easyer ways to get your music.
since you most likely are using Live, your xbox is most likely hooked up to your router to wich your pc is hooked up. Open windows media player, go to library, right click the library tab, and go to ''file sharing''(or something close to that) allow file sharing with your xbox 360 in this window(should have a picutre of a xbox with a checkmark on it, you only have to click it) once that's done, go on your xbox, go into the music tab, you should have ''my computer'' on it, and from there, you can just simply stream the music from your pc, to your 360, you can also do this with divx movies.
    enjoy.

unless if something is really wrong then you just aren't looking very hard. hint: it's under "copy cd"

If you really need help, I'm sure that xbox has an online help site with directions, somewhere.
