Best world language for an..

teacher/doctor/engineer, I plan on being one of those, I recently had an articulation in my middle school to see what classes I'll be taking, and I plan on taking Japanese as my world language, and I get all these ******ed friends saying that Spanish is better because were closest to Mexico

Personally, I think in the long run, since Japan has a larger and more expensive economy, getting a job in Japan would get you some money, and I don't really know what Mexico has to offer but border jumpers mowing your lawn (jk jk jk jk).

Plus the fact that Japan has more uber technology then us Americans, I see more benefit in learning Japanese, but my friends seem to only see 10 years ahead of them, I don't think I'll be staying in California when I grow up.

First thing Spanish is not Spoken on only mexico!
Just so you know spanish could be even more valuable than english because it is spoken on more countries than english is, also spanish is much more developed than inglish, as in for reffering to people of authority. also enlgish has been hammered down by the community of the united sates and also the internet, by creating by product languages. such as L33T, Gang dialects and other Butchering of the english language mas made such less valuable to me!

But now that everything's becoming globalized, Mandarin Chinese would be your best bet. And I would really suggest you to NOT learn Japanese.

Take French then. I've been in French for 3 years and I love it. Depends what teacher you have though...my teacher is awesome.

It doesn't really even matter what language you take anyways. It's not like you'll be moving to another country and moving there, even if you say you will. Just take what you think sounds the best. Go to YouTube and look up French and Spanish (I'm guessing you already know what Japanese sounds like)

Do in no way choose what might "help" you over what interests you. If you go for some higher education, that language won't be of much use for you in it self, but by chance because what you learn about different cultures.
For anything else, its nothing but a prep on your vita, nothing more. You will hardly use it for your profession, if you aren't as adept in it as it where your second mother tongue.
Negotiation and conversation in a language are 2 pairs of shoes, don't underestimate that.

I took French for 4 years now, bout to get in a 5th, and maybe a 6th. (I failed once). I find it pretty useful, but I doubt its used so out in the daylight worldly.

Japanese is a good choice. If you ever go there, you can get some new technology, mangas, hentai, non-poorly dubbed animes, and did I say hentai?

You learn Spanish in school which is the language spoken in Spain, in Mexico a different dialect of the language is spoken. My sister had Hispanic people in her Spanish class that failed the class because they didn't study and the language is different (and they are rather stupid).
Japanese in it's current state is doing better then the US it's currency to the Dollar has been slowly increasing it use to be about 270 to every dollar and now I believe it is closer to 100 now. Japan has lots of jobs but you must learn they have a completely different culture and you would have to first respect their culture before ever getting a job over there. But for a job, if you want money I suggest Japanese, if you want to help more people then Spanish. But if you want the next global langauge go with Chinese.
