Default 32 bit VS. 64 bit

Hey all, I'm probably going to get a new notebook soon, and I have the option for installing 32 bit Vista, or 64 bit Vista.

I googled both and it seems that 32 bit Vista is better for now, with more support from software vendors, whereas 64 bit is better performance and security wise, but without much ability to run current software.

It seems that 64 bit would be better in the long run, but I'm probably going to get another notebook within the next four years anyways, when I'm off to college.

So, what would be better to get, 32 bit version of Vista, or the 64 bit version?

It would seem that 32 bit would be the better decision, but I'm still unsure.

64-bit XP is the POS 64-bit OS. If you are going to do 64-bit windows, do Vista.
If you are going to do 32-bit windows, do XP.

The problem is that the older Chinese and Korean made games cannot run in 64-bit mode. You'll probably need to shift to a newer American title like WoW or EQ2.

No I mean like games that aren't MMOs. I haven't had any trouble with MMOs so far.

Yea, it's a whole new type of CPU.

There comes a point in computers that you need to dump backwards compatibility to advanced.
You got two choices, either stick with a old computer, or get a new one and accept that a lot of your old programs won't work.
Thats just how computers work. Theres no escaping that.

It's up to the makers of the game to update it for 64-bit. If they don't make sure the program so it runs 64-bit, then it simply won't.
At the most, try to contact the developers and ask for a 64-bit patch. Maybe, if they get enough e-mails asking, they might make a patch.
