How many languages do you speak?

I don't know if this has been up before, but here it comes. It would be interesting to see how many languages people speak and how much they engage themselves to learn other languages than their ''own ones''. On the other hand it could also be the opportunity of not having the option to learn different languages.

In Scandinavia I guess so. But I heard France didn't learn too many languages either?

I speak English, obviously...I took 2 years of Spanish in school, so I know enough of THAT to live in a Spanish speaking country (not comfortably, but I know all the basics)

And, I speak enough Italian to understand the swear words my grandmother used to yell when she was around. (RIP)

I speak: Kurdish, Turkish, Danish, English, German and acceptable French... I guess I can live with that...

im fluent french and english, but unlike evry one else, i wont say i can speak 8 languages, when i can say about in one sentence in each, since it barely counts, anyone with internet and 30 mins of spare time could do the same.

Portuguese is my mother language. English I just naturally learned it, with some help from school, but I usually knew all they had to teach by that time anyway, and probably more.

I know Spanish because I find it really easy and I live in Portugal, right next to it.

I learned French at school, I like how it sounds so I perfected it on my own, speaking to french people I met on the internet.

I learned German on my trip around Europe, with some girl friends I met there. I also worked by myself to perfect it.

Same deal with the Italian.

I've been learning Russian with the help of a friend of mine.

That trip around Europe really helped, and I wish I had the opportunity to do it again.
