one of those, through chance, has a slight mutation... it cant absorb protein. the other , through chance, also mutates after the split, it absorbs protein at a faster rate.
therefore bacteria 1 will be less succesfful at reproducing than bacteria two. so eventually the dna from bacteria 1 will die out and bacteria 2 will carry on to be dominant.
then they carry on growing and eventually one of the bacteriums, whilst splitting, accidentally has two of thse nucleus things and evolves into a double cell organism instead of a one cell organism. again this is a mutation but its through chance. since it is larger it survives better and reproduces more than the single celled dudes.
and then it carries on like that. the best adapted survives and reproduces in greater quantities until you end up with people.
thats why some people say that the human race has stopped evolving, because today people are kept alive through medicine when they would have died in nature. invalids and disabled people reproduce, heart attack patients live into old age, hereditary terminal cancer patients live long enough to reproduce, so its no longer survival of the best adapted. so no more evolution. but thats a moral and philosophical minefield.
