FF isn't even THAT great of a game, it's just like WoW. It's really popular. I really like their creative scenarios, but it's always just the same shite, different package. Never feels different to me, but maybe that's just me.

In an attempt to stay on topic now, am I the only person thats noticed all of Square's new hand-held games are getting the $40 price tag? I'd have probably bought the new Crystal Chronicles if it hadn't been for that.

Not the DS version,the PSX version..
But MAN!
If there's any reason to buy a DS it's this game.(And some other reasons but I can't think of any,really.)
This is my favorite FF game.
And the DS version has voice acting!

to people compaining and being ignorant in general:
1.someone asked why it was not remade for the psp. The game was originaly aimed at japan, with a cellphone game, released at the same time wich is also related to FF4. The DS is the most sold system in japan curently, therefore, there in safe ground releasing it on this system. the ff1/2 remakes floped in japan for the psp also, wich would kinda push towards why it was released on this.
2. Graphics not good? im sorry, look at the SNES version of this game, then look at this one. its a major upgrade, sure, its not psp nor pstripple, but its alot better, probly the best the DS can handle.
3. common, the game has full voice overs and new mechanics, stop moaning already.

I for one love the fact that they are remaking the Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy 3 never properly released over here so that was nice. FF2 is im my opinion the best f the series so it will be interesting to see how it comes across. I'd love to see them do the same for 1, 5, and 6 too.

Final Fantasy 1, actualy, was suposed to be square's last game before they were gona shut there doors, due to the fact that there games werent selling well, and were near bankrup, that is were the name Final Fantasy came from, since it was suposed to be there last bang before dying out.
But the game ended up being quite succesfull, making them able to make the first 5 sequels, that, even if they sold well, for rpg titles, still dint make them much money, due to the fact rpg's werent exactly popular for consoles, that changed with FF7, and evry thing after, but, the old FF's, 1 to 6, are great, oldschool rpg's.

These remakes for the DS are better translated, updated technology, modified gameplay (changed skills, etc) and additional gameplay.

err, im sorry, but, the gba version all had updated graphics, with extra content(endgame dungeons in dawn of soul with ulitmate equipment, same for 4, and 6 also has new playable characters and summons) so, i really dont knonw what your talking about.
