Default Games like Fable, Oblivion or the Witcher?

I want a game that is like Fable, Oblivion or The witcher. I love those "Do your own stuff " games where you can travel the world and kill stuff n shit. More specific would be:

    Preferable 1st person.

Has many towns to travel in

NOT a set story line, i want a game where you can decide how you want to play

    Hopefully Fantasyish

Leveling is ok but not required.

Based around 1p , but multi capabilities are fine.

Gory stuff is fine, even having inappropriate stuff like in the witcher is fine too, though id preffer if it didnt have the inappropriate stuff.

    Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Id also like it if it was playable on a console, more spesificly 360. Thats not a requirement though.

    Finally. I second this recommendation.

And if you haven't yet, make sure you try out Oblivion's daddy, Morrowind, as it blows the pants off of the completely dumbed-down Oblivion by far.

I third Mount&Blade and second Morrowind. And if you really are a fan of the Elder Scrolls games, look around for Daggerfall.

Also, I second Dark Messiah, but just be aware that the story is a bit linear. (no going outside of the storyline basically...)

morrowind was actually one of the scariest games I played, see unless you can summon demons and allies, your pretty alone in those dungeons
with skeletons, monsters and so on
