they will lose probably about 30% of their players if you ask me, but thats only about 2 million. 9 million is still a HUGE number of players no matter what game, and most of those players will be people who havnt even reached 80 (new expansion)

wow wont lose any players for this reason:

all the hardcore mmoers who go to new mmos will be replaced by twice as many newbs

in this day and age its not just nerds who play computer games

you dont need to "know" about computers anymore to use them

the average thirty something year old who googled "mmo" to find out wat the fuk it means will be playing WoW because WoW is the most widely known game and will be most peoples first foray into the world of internet gaming.

the other newer games will only attract people who have played other mmos first or who keep up to date on gaming news

Im still waiting on people to wise up and see a few things namely :

1. WoWs success in part is due to a back catalogue of extremely good and popular games name the RTS Warcraft Series.

2. AoC and WoW share as much in common as Tuna and Shampoo.

3. There will not be a 'WoW' Killer. People will like WoW and people will play WoW no game will 'kill' it because surprisingly, its constantly updated and supported and is a good game if its to your taste.

4. The only foreseeable 'threat' to WoW is WHO and thats because it has a HUGE cult following, people will play it because they've read the books or played the games and the game itself is looking fantastic.
