Default About Lying on a Resume

So I'm going out today and tomorrow to look for a job in retail. The thing is, I have no real experience in retail. So I'm thinking about lying on my resume, and hoping they don't ask me to provide my references.

What do you guys think? Do they actually check these things? What will I need to know to lie convincingly? I'm assuming I need to learn how to use a cash register (maybe I'll ask my sister, who works at No Frills). Is there anything else?

I know lots of people who've lied on their resumes, because it's almost impossible to get a start in a retail job without prior experience of retail.

What's your experience? Have you ever done this? How?

    Thanks.

Lol They won't look twice at your supposed retail experience unless you DO provide specific references.

And even if you do get away with it, they're gonna toss in the midst and expected you to know more than you will if you have no retail experience. You won't have any "excuses".

What exactly do you mean by retail? Do you mean a person that assists customers with suggestions and sells products, warranties, etc in the process? Or do you mean anything involving retail stores like running a register, customer service, etc?

I'm 19 and this year I got my first job although I've been looking. If you can try to find a job that is almost desperate to hire. Then you won't need to lie and they'll provide you training. That's how I got my job I do just about everything now, run the cafe, run a register, provide customer assistance, etc, etc.

Oh, well, depends then. If you can write a resume that articulates your willing to learn and your exceptional adaptability. Then you don't need to lie about previous retail experience. Just try to prove that you'd make just as good of an asset as someone with previous experience in retail in any way you can. I'm not a good liar so I really try anything else not to lie.

I don't want a shitty position that won't help me when I go to get another job, though.

I don't know what a bag boy is, but I'm assuming it's something like that. Oh, and Wal Mart are known for treating their employees especially badly, aren't they?

Lying on a resume only brings more trouble than its worth. Have fun

No job experience is required for retail such as HMV. It is practically the easiest job in the world to do (aside from the obvious dealings with asshats in your store of course).

15 minutes of training in any store like that should have you set up pretty good. If they actually require retail experience they are idiots.

You main point is to be personable in your job interview. If you can speak with the interviewer fine, you can speak to the customers as well. That's all you need for a job like that.

    Idiot. (sorry)

There is a big difference between lying on a resume and manipulating the truth. First, it's all in the cover letter, if you have one, to list the skills that you have aquired and how you aquired them. If you were on a sports team, and never a job before, this is how it would be:

I have great leadership skills that have been aknowledged by mentors, instructors, and workmates that I have cooperated in the past.

Now, you see? That's what manipulating the truth is.

    Gotta manipulate it, man.

Use it like Magibon...except....I don't know how to use her, except to fap to her before her ugliness was spread.

Yeah, I wouldn't lie on a resume. That gives them a HORRIBLE first impression...

They reserve the right to fire you without notice if they find that the material on the resume is not correct.

That is, however, if they check your information.
