There is a big difference between lying on a resume and manipulating the truth. First, it's all in the cover letter, if you have one, to list the skills that you have aquired and how you aquired them. If you were on a sports team, and never a job before, this is how it would be:
I have great leadership skills that have been aknowledged by mentors, instructors, and workmates that I have cooperated in the past.
Now, you see? That's what manipulating the truth is.
