Many of your role playing adventures require weapons and tools not commonly found in the modern world. The reason is that the progenitor of these artifacts no longer exists at the center of our everyday lives. I'm talking of course about the blacksmith.
The craft of blacksmithing is slowly fading away as we live in an industrialized world. While we find the occasional weapons expert and blacksmith at a historical re-enactment or at a Renaissance festive, you just don't see many people writing that down under occupation these days. It's a sad thing, because not only are we losing a link to our past, we are also losing skills and tools that can still make every day life easier and cheaper.
That's why Trent Tye created www.purgatoryironworks.com. Here, we've created a place where one can learn the ancient craft from the basics, and move on to making tools and weapons for everyday use.
Take for example something that was needed to film our DVD quality videos. Lighting. Normally, it would have been a multi-thousand dollar investment to get proper lighting into the forge. But Trent was able to take $20 industrial lighting, and simply rig it to the same adjustable apparatus that a professional lighting kit would have, only that he was able to make that kit from mere scrap metals.
Maybe you don't have ambitions to make a film, but instead have a nasty undead infestation. Here's a short public service announcement where Trent demonstrates how the blacksmith prepares for such a situation.
(You may also note that there is a selection of sample videos taken from an earlier version of the online course in the related videos section to the right)
So if you want to learn how to work with metal to become handier around home, take up a new hobby, or forge mythical weapons of awesome destructive power to save humanity, come by www.purgatoryironworks.com and sign up today.
