Default The RPG Cliche List (EXTREMELY LONG)

Here is a list of every single cliche in an RPG, this is a dangerously long list (192 Cliches) but I will shorten it to 25. If you wish me to add the rest, I will.

If you see a Cliche from an RPG you have played, please list the RPG an the Number opf the Cliche.

    Sleepyhead Rule
The teenaged male lead will begin the first day of the game by oversleeping, being woken up by his mother, and being reminded that he's slept in so late he missed meeting his girlfriend.

    "No! My beloved peasant village!"
The hero's home town, city, slum, or planet will usually be annihilated in a spectacular fashion before the end of the game, and often before the end of the opening scene.

Thinking With The Wrong Head (Hiro Rule)
No matter what she's accused of doi

i think ive read all these before.... still fun though

Lol @ the nominal rule, because its true, always reminds me of playing buck rogers on the megadrive (genesis)

your team of named doods vs the enemy doods "RAM leader" "RAM warrior" "RAM warrior" "RAM warrior" "RAM warrior"

woot for nameless pawns and badguys in orange jumpsuits whose only purpose is to give you loot and xp

and that fall in love one reminds me of phantasy star where your character finds some woman washed up on the beach and instantly decides to marry her that DAY then on the same day she gets kidnapped by your arch enemy!!!! wtf some of the guests didnt even get their invites yet how the feck does the evil arch nemesis dude on his mountain fortress of doom know to come and kidnap her??????

There are only so many ways to start a story and give the character motive.

I hope everyone here realizes that cliche's arn't bad and to some extend can't be avoided.

yeah. plus if you remove all the characters that were described in the OP's post then what other character archetypes can you have??? thats like.. all of them.

also someone said about female characters.... most older rpg's have male characters because in them days the gaming community was mainy men. its changed in recent years but its still mainly blokes.

thats why theres so much eye candy in games for men... thats why when a guy puts on chainmail its got frickin huge spikes and blood and stuff on it but when a female character puts on the same chainmail it consists of three peices of string and a paperclip.

actually, brb, going to search for chainmail porn
