Not really, CoX plays completely different from the Everquest model that EQ2 and WoW followed.

WoW *IS* a lot like EQ, and DAoC(I actually played DAoC a lot back in the day, played EQ1 a bit but instantly hated it) were, however, it was quest based instead of sit in one spot and camp-based. EQ2 was weird, because while it was quest based like WoW, I believe it failed because about 75% or more of the quests were forced grouping, which was insanely annoying.

Also, before EQ1 was Ultimate Online and Meridian 59, which are more like Mabinogi or Runescape of today then anything else, which play nothing much like the WoW/EQ model of play that you are saying every MMO is, which they obviously are not.

And before that were MUDs, which was a whole different monster entirely.

Ugh..my point was those are all OPINIONS and the only actual FACT is that WoW is a clone of EQ1 in the sense that its also an MMORPG, people calling different games "different" or "a clone of" WoW is just their own opinion yet they keep trying to prove it by saying "well it has this feature and that feature so its a clone!" while we all know good and well thats a friggin opinion.

so I guess my point is STOP stating something is a clone of something else, just give straight up opinions.
Sure its fine to say this game is very similar to WoW or Everquest but when you go around saying "omg this game is a WoW-clone" all that does is start up HUGE arguments comparing this game to WoW when thats not even the point of the entire thread.

How was it not playing like a really bad WoW clone? When I played it, it was slow moving, just like WoW. The quests were all kill X, just like WoW. The control scheme was point and click, but that doesn't really matter to me. The slow-pacedness, long-ass travel times, kill 1 mob-at-a-time-mostly-auto-combat felt very WoWish to me, and I hate games that do that.

i would play both but requiem is evil... BSOD'd me... i'm wary of things that do such things. other then that i'll play Rohan; the GFX look good to me in every video i have watched but "you people" keeps saying it is bad. tsk tsk,



Everquest 1 i believe.

EDIT: i was wrong; but i watched a huge show about mmorpg's on G4 tech tv and they said it was what started it all.

Like I said game base themself on the first "system feature creator" or mmorpg that did a great success in the mmo market .

but even by copying feature some mmo still ***** the feature and make it more unique than the first itself

rohan, if either. both are generic korean grinders, but the only thing that requiem has going for it is the blood and supposedly scary environment. other than that, the combat is extremely dull, as the coolness of enemys getting decapitated quickly wares off. rohan is equally as grindy, but there's more variety to classes and races, and the skills each class gets are somewhat unique and fun to use, which, for me, renders the combat in rohan much more fun than requiem's.

Personnaly, thoses 2 game are pretty pretty bad. Nothing new and bad foreign games, already out somewhere else since couple years... WTF !!!

Im dreaming of the day when some NA/EU/UK devs come whit a good game.

Requiem looks like a 2D game very badly ported to a 3D game.

Rohan, your not tired of all thoses Asian Clones ?

Ill skip those 2 games whit no dissapointment.

I'll probably play some Rohan. The style of Requiem didn't appeal to me much, and I am not much of a fan of gratuitous violence and gore.

As for people saying that there are so many WoW clones or L2 clones or EQ clones, that is because most MMORPGs have very similar core mechanics. In every MMO I can think of, there is killing monsters and doing quests in order to gain levels and money to get cool looking gear and have bragging rights. Most MMOs boil down to that, and the differences often lie in smaller details like presentation and side-activities like crafting and PvP.
Heck, I don't see why people aren't complaining about FPS's being Halo clones or Half-Life clones or Battlefield clones, because all of them can be boiled down to shooting things. That is probably because the people who play FPS's understand that most shooting games have similar core mechanics and that the details are what distinguishes them.

So, in short, I get really angry when someone calls an MMO a clone and just writes it off as bad, because almost all MMOs are based on the same concepts.

Sorry if this sounds really rant-y; I just hate the people who call an MMO a stupid WoW clone, and try to say it is a bad game just because of that.

Requiem, easy. I've played Rohan and it's just...average. The graphics aren't anything special, the classes are fairly generic (With the exception of the dragon morphing people). Overall, it's just like every other game unless you wanna play a dahn or dekan. They don't see the names of anyone else because they can treat them just like monsters and kill them at will.

But really, tons of MMOs have pvp. Rohan's just too blah to be fun.

It is sorta BS that they are wiping after OB. I kinda waited for OB to try it out cause I hate wipes, only to find they are wiping OB as well. Now to wait for Open Beta to be over. Bah, Open beta is going to take a hell of a long time. Screw Requiem, Rohan for me then.

Why are people so freaked out about a wipe? Are you gonna devote your whole life to your character, spend 10 hours a day just making your character uber leet and perfect? Even if ya only spend 5 hours a week playing a wipe is not that big of a deal. Rohan is as average as average gets, Requiem at least tries to bring something different to the table (plus it's much prettier and that's always a plus)

But if you wanna skip out on an awesome game just because you'd have to make a new character, go right ahead. But you just wait till 2 months from now or so. Rohan is gonna be old news and just another generic grind, Requiem is where it's at.

Rohan's just been hyped more. And even then if you've actually played the game you'll have noticed out of 6 possible races 80% of the total player base were either Dhans or Dekans because they can pvp. (And I'm willing to bet there's a percentage of people who only even looked at the game because they saw the name Rohan and associated it with Lord of the Rings)

I think Espio0 made the best point though, Requiem has friggin zombies! There's no zombies in Rohan.

so ive tried out rohan and requiem
requiem defintely wins by a lot.
Rohan is basically grind with party members and just ur average mmorpg that gets boring after a week
however, requiem is so gorey and amazing. graphics r woah, the attacks r woah, zombies woah omfg, the buildings ... woah....

Well the point of a beta is to find bugs. Maybe if they don't feel the need to grind to the top, they'll actually test for them.
