Pets aren't to cutesy no. There are some cute pets, but thats not a large amount compared the the hundreds found in the game.
There is also no cash shop because they are trying to kill the game I believe, but as I said before, too many people still play.
The servers are not dead, if you log on there are a bunch of people playing still.

They're are only few cutesy pets, if they were all cutesy it wouldn't go to well with all the scenery. So they have a cap on them.
This has the best pet system ever found in a game, with a pretty fun battle system. It's turn based like pokemon.
If you like, I can link you to a speeder, but it's good to start playing without one till you understand wtf you're doing, THEN get one. Lol.
Try to get in a guild because the conversations get live. Lol.
Community is one of the best, its a lot of fun.
I love the graphics in the game, I wish more games did that type of style.
They still do update even though they say they don't. Like once every month or around that.
You can change the font, but I forgot how.
You can also evolve pets and all that. And there is a good amount of pets because every monster can become your pet.
