Default Changing the CPU of my old comp (not new)

I got a question. If I would put in a broken CPU in a comp it wouldn't go on right? Does that also mean that my comp will be uhm... dead immediately??

Reason I'm asking cause I'm doing some changes on my old comp so that my step sister will buy it xD She needs a new comp bad but my old comp is a 1.66GHz or something and I'm putting in a 2.6GHz for her (I will get more money then xD)

Sorry for the weird question but I'm just using parts of my parents old comp that broke, but most stuff still worked I even used the ram and vid card for awhile xD

Broken CPU in a MB means no activity at all. U can press the power button but that's as far as u go IMO.

About changing parts from 1 pc to the other, u must have motherboards that support the parts. From your question I gather you don't know much about hardware... Video cards, as long as they are put in the correct sockets (PCI-E, AGP. PCI), always work (same with HD - IDE in IDE and SATA in MB that have SATA - and drives) but the same cannot be said about RAM and CPU.

Lol yeah it works The dude probably lied about saying the old comp of my parents won't work anymore xD even last one problem that can be solved though xD I lost the screws to set the Fan at place " and I can't use the other CPU anymore cause It accidently fell out of my hands when the cat was suddenly running past me... Just need to solve that and done xD Till then I'll leave it alone I Guess. Even though I never did it it's better to learn it to do it yourself :3

CPU fans don't have screws o_O, it usually has screws attached to it or the older ones have a pair of some kind of clippers (i dunno what they're called)

Fixed it with special glue xD

@seimei There were plastic screws or how you call them in it xD You do the same as with a screw that's why I named it "Plastic Screw"

btw, It works xD I'm playing a game with my comp and I'm on the forum with the comp I switched the CPU of xD

This is going to be her comp after she pays for 340euro

Isn't worth the €340,- xD But she doesn't know it and my parents don't know it so it's profit $$$ ^^

Ofcourse I'm changing it back to "Netherlands" settigns xD I used to play korean Tales weaver with this.

Don't install windows vista on it since it will be slower than windows XP making her unsatisfied and smashing you with a big hammer.

The day I install Vista on one of the comps in house is the day I plan to suicide! Only comp with vista is my parents comp but they bought it like that >_> and she's a goth kid only thing she will be doing is smashing me to death is with a spiked belt. I love the sound of this comp though, It's so quiet now even more quiet then my own comp xD

About the CPU or any pc changes: use a table of a floor. Use late gloves (powder free) if touching the cpu (optional) and try to be on a place without many people around and pet free. When placing the CPU don't forget to add thermic gel (arctic silver 5 is a good one and cheap - around $10). Clean all dust from all components, preferably with a can of compressed air. And don't use magnetized wrenches :P
Ol you should've replied sooner T_T

Vacuum cleaner or how you call them I cleaned the comp xD
    Was around 2 pets xD
    Didn't use any gell.
    and I used magnetized wrenches.

It works fine though, she said she will pay me next month xD till then I can do 2 things at same time :3
