How to connect to xbox live?

Well, i have me xbox nao, but i have no idea how to get onto xbox live o.O...

Im on wireless with this comp, i plug in a little net-gear thing into a USB port (( or whatever its called )) to connect to the internet.

How to i get onto xbox live? i'd <3 to play crackdown co-op, allso is it possible to play with a freind split-screen? yknow, with two controllers >_>, on crackdown, i mean.

ehh crackdown.. no1 should help u now lol but on ur dashboard look for config settings and find ur router.. and if its got a pass it will ask u to type it in.. ya thats about it
