I live in an area with a bunch of landmarks I always forget about...
Until I see tourists, or hear someone else talking about it, I just don't remember this stuff.
Erie Canal:
Heres a big one...I don't know if we study it because it is locally important, or if it is something everyone knows about...but about 4 miles away from me is a section of the Erie Canal. I never remember this shit, mostly because the part around here isn't in use anymore...so its kinda nasty.
Carousel Mall (Project Destiny):
This one I kinda remember...sometimes. Mostly when I go to that mall (which is once, maybe twice a year). Its about a 30 minute drive from my house, but I consider it local. This mall is going to be the biggest mall in the world, complete with all kinds of shit inside. (a zoo or something I think.) The construction has begun, and its supposed to be done in like 10 years or something.

Sylvan Beach Amusement Park:
Recently, some tycoon decided to put millions of dollars into my home town (The Beach) to restore its shitty amusement park. I haven't seen much going into the town (except the goddamn parking meters, so if I don't want to walk 3 blocks to get there, I have to PAY to PARK in my own home town...EW.) Its really mediocre...at best. But people come here all the time to look at the lake and ride the really crappy rollercoaster.

I really don't know how big these things are...I've lived here my whole life, so maybe they aren't as big of a deal as I thought. Hmmm.
