Hmm, hard to explain. Functions on which side? There are millions of new admin functions, also moderation is much easier. But for the basics there are:
The Ajax program (Try and edit a topic)
The Quick Reply, just hit a qr.
The reputation system, which is given to those who are helpful.
Those are the only main functions I can think of that we have actually done so far, more are in the making how ever.
