You did better than the average (I think average around 1000-1500? Not sure exactly).

You know what I believe about the essay? Make it look good, because these people are going to read it and people make judgements all the time even subconciously about things like handwriting that can play a great deal. So write neat so graders have an easy time to read it and write some length with it and it will have a better chance of getting a better grade then if you wrote the same exact essay but messy.

I say get a book or something and read the writing rules for the other sections of the writing since my intial score was around 560 and it jumped 80 points from that.

Yeah I think I did so bad on the essay because my handwriting is HORRIBLE. They probably couldn't read some of it so they had to take off :/. I think I wrote it pretty well and it was pretty much all of the two pages they give you. But yeah what I'm really worried about is pulling math up another 80 points at least.

Is this for self-satisfaction and seeing how well you perform at a test? I wouldn't take the test either way since it's a waste of time and money. You did better at the critical thinking part than I could ever do.

    You did overall well.

On PSAT which is supposed to be harder, I only outscored you on Math.

It's for getting into college actually. Most of them require you take either the SAT or ACT.

Really..? Because I believe that most colleges/universities stop using SAT's as a requirement because it does not accurately reflect how well you would actually do in college.

Not as far as I know. Most I've looked at still require either the SAT or ACT.

Most still require you submit your scores but they don't use it as a main determining factor anymore. Oh and they're supposed to be replacing the SAT with something more efficient soon I think. I heard it on the news.

I'm going to MVCC (Mohawk Vally COMMUNITY COLLEGE), they don't even look at the SAT. I didn't even take it. BUT, its only a two year school too.

Something to keep in mind. I don't know anything about UCLA, or any college for that matter lol.
Haha yeah right. I don't even have a shot at UCLA. If you're thinking I want to go there cause of my sig then thats just a band.

You live in North Carolina? I do.

But yeah, you basically restated what I said.

I don't live in North Carolina but I do know about some of it, it is only a few colleges that say optional SAT/ACT. Majority colleges still ask for them. Same for SAT IIs, I just took Math level 2 and Chem on June 7th.

Ah. I don't know anything about prestigious schools and stuff. >_<

Like I said, I'm going to community college! If that is what you are doing, don't worry about SAT's.

I did horrid compared to how I thought I'd end up, got a 1720

Got an 8/12 on the essay, which imo was crap.

I think I should have prepared a little more for it.

Go to a college website, look at the applications, see how your scores compare to the SAT scores they accept/want.

Your math is terrible to be honest, but I think you already knew that. What grade are you in?

Uhh yeah I know it's pretty bad. I'm in 11th grade so I'm gonna take it again next year and actually prepare. I didn't study or go to sleep on time or eat breakfast like they say you should but I don't think that would have helped my math score this time. I knew how to do most of it but I'm pretty slow with math so I didn't finish any of the math sections lol.

An 'A' Level in Ontario would be an OAC credit, or grade 13. Some grade 12 course may apply, but I doubt it. SAT scores have nothing to do with 'A' levels. And we don't even have SAT scores in Canada. Therefore the only thing that applies to getting into a college in Ontario is the size of your wallet, as you can easily get into any program after writing and passing their entrance exams as a mature student. Meaning they won't look at your grades. Either way, the entire college/uni system is a big pile of bullshit. Too many people graduate and end up not even working in their fields of study, or end up learning a ton of shit thats useless to their field as its 1970-80s material.

Hey quick question, say I got 70%+ in Math and Reading, but 54% on writing.

Will taking 5 Ap Courses next year kind of negate that? or am I still screwed?

honestly, some colleges don't even count the writing part.

they only count the critical reading and the math.

Writing is my weakest section. But I still got 1830...

Also, this is my second time doing this. My first score was about a 1740. So you will really want to take it a second time. But some advice: Do some practice tests! They will help you a lot, and prepare you for whats on the actual test.

Also, I'm hoping to get into UMD. Those are my SAT scores, my GPA is about a 3.2, and i have around 300 community service hours. I hope I'll get in =\
Yeah I'll probably take it again. All I really wanna do is pull my math score up and at least get it close to my reading. It's really all overkill at this point though cause I checked with the main college I'm looking at and they only require an 890 combined critical reading and math (guess they don't even look at writing) so I think I'm good.

Now I just need to figure out how I'm gonna pay for it, it's a really really expensive private college
