Default What comp do you reccomend? Vista or XP? I don't know much about comps.

not long ago, someone rammed my dad's car, and messed up the back-right side of it real bad, and he started to have muscle spazms in his back. So, the insurance company i think said they were gonna do something to the car or something like that, and anyways, the point is that we're getting $1,000.

and, my birthday is coming up, and if we're lucky, dad will get more money, and not only we'll be able to use the money on some other things, but we'll have enough to get me a new comp for my birthday.

But ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 dollars, what comp is best?

custom builds are the best, and cheapest

If you don't know much about it, just go for Vista. It will protect you from all kinds of shit, and you won't really notice the XP convenience you are missing out on.

only thing that people seem to have with vista is its a memory hog, but if you have at least 2gb of ram, it should run fine

get a decent video card, 8600 or higher (ATI suxx), decent proc (2.2ghz and up) and decent hard drive (300gb or more)

get about 3-4gb of memory and youll have a gaming rig that will last 5 years with little upgrades here and there

Nobody likes you making new threads all the time either. Your 11 threads in a week was one less than Justin's twelve.

BTW I think spending 2k is sort of overkill for a custom build... 1k is good
