Default Do you remember your first experience with a MMORPG?

So guys, do you remember any good first experiences you had while playing a MMORPG for the very first time? Something cool and unexpected that happened and simply made you feel that the game was great? Maybe you met someone really nice, or maybe you got a really rare item on the first few hours of gameplay? Some event that made you fall in love with the game?

I remember the first time I tried WoW, it was the one-week trial thing that they were offering. I made a character of every race, but stuck with a Tauren Druid, because I kinda liked the skills. Anyway, while I was doing a quest another Tauren player came up to me and asked me if I was new or something (I was killing low level critters, so it was pretty obvious...), so he offered to help me for a while, while the trial lasted. He showed me a lot of places, helped me complete several quests, gave me some tips about how WoW works, how you get skills, how you get good items, etc.

That was a really nice first experience, I must say. I had a lot of fun with my Tauren, explored plenty of places, got killed a lot, learned some skills, did several quests. The game seemed a little bit confusing at first, but I'm glad there was someone who would help out a newbie.

Lol, I was talking about GOOD experiences, but while we are on the subject, dissapointments count as first experiences too.

I'm not sure I ever even tried Endless Online, hmmhm.

EDIT: Nevermind, I did try it a long time ago. Didn't like it at all either. I didn't mind the colorful 2D graphics, but there simple wasn't much to do. There was no tutorial, nothing. D:

King's Quest online (1993, part of the Sierra gaming network).

I was just starting out and someone asked if I would like some free levels and good gear. He escorted me through a deep dungeon and handed me all the good gear. Even got to fight a few bosses. Overall I reached lvl 20 from 3 in 3 hours, had over 60K in gold, and had a full set of rare gear.

    It was a cool experience.

Ohh yeah! I played it a lot even though my first experience was pretty much awful. There was this random PKer that would hunt newbs and kill them over and over again. I was really frustrated, but at the first time, running away and actually getting away was fun, lawls. This was when there was no Wilderness.
The game was pretty easy to understand, updates where pretty common, etc.

Runescape, damn, that game was the shit back then. I loved it. I was a high level free member with all quests completed, with a lot of money. It was just fun hanging out with my friends, going deep into the wilderness and explore...

Makes me want to go back, actually =/

I've started with Ragnarok Online back in the Korean beta days, I didn't have a computer so I played at an internet cafe. I played only a week or two and then I stopped playing games for a year or two, I got back to MMORPGs when I got my PC with an internet connection, then I started playing Ragnarok on private server and continued so for ~4 years (on and off, not constant). After I got bored I started trying out other MMORPGs and now I have quite a list of MMORPGs I played. Atm I don't play any MMORPGs and I don't plan to, ever, because they just steal your life and I have some ambicious goals I want to reach and if I do something I do it with devotion so for me it's either playing for 10+ hours everyday or don't play at all. I chose not playing. ;p

my "first GOOD" experience in WoW was actually in arena, 5vs5, my team finnaly figured out how to down another team's player in under 10 seconds...but nope did that good experience last? no, 2 of the players in the team traded characters because they were bored of playing their class. Could have hit Gladiator and had a chance of hitting rank 1. Oh boy wow is starting to suck.

My first game that I ever played online was Diablo II and I could say it was a good experience.
Even though my character was completely ****ed up with the skills my brother and cousin also played =D.

My first experience of an MMORPG was MU online. I used to go down to the local cyber cafe every weekend for a few hours of CS and WC3 with my mates. Then every now and then i would notice this guy that always sat in the corner plying MU. I was always like "oh my gawd that looks cool". Then decided to play it one day and have been hooked to MMORPG's ever since.

I haven't played MMOs for too long, but my first was Dofus.
I remember starting a battle with a Collecter NPC, and then a whole bunch of high level characters joined in and killed me. Man, those were the times.
I made a lot of mistakes in that game, but it set me of on a journey of MMO playing.
Thinking of something to put here.

I am about to speak Blasphemy.

My first MMO and the one I still have the best experience in to this day. is

-evil dark drum roll- Endless online!

This was long before it was now in the first year. (WHere in my opinion it was still good) I liked how you could where w/e and not be behind anyone. And stuff,
But IT was before the newbie island. And well I spawned int eh newbie place, I walked around this guy showed me how to get some peasent clothing. I was off, on my endless adventure. When, I was just getting to lvl 10 =D yay me, I met my friend Kratos man we had so many good times. Not only that but, he taught me how to get past the incredibly lame.

Arena lag, and might I say we ran that place down..
we where constantly saw in global or in the cloud town.

screaming I am god and this is man. Here us poot ..
It got to the point, that was are nick name to some. ;-; then i left do to emotinal reasons.

Everquest, back in 2001. Saw it in a magazine advertisement and always wanted to try it out. Didn't like it too much. Moved on to Ultima Online, because my brother bought it; we decided to share a character. It was the last MMO I truly played, (as in NOT played-for-a-week-then-uninstalled-because-it-sucked-shit, but actually spending several months/years on it.) until I got WoW.
