ahaha...obviously you have not pvped in battlegrounds or even go past the first 10 levels...WoW does NOT have boring combat at all, sure PvP-wise it will get repetitive and whatnot since you kill opposing faction players for reputation and better gear, but in terms of general combat, its pretty fast-paced. Its not just press 1 skill key then go to sleep, thats just ******ed. You play like that you might as well not be playing the game at all. WASD controls along with hotbar keys all over your screen to make use of all your abilities is the key to being good at combat.
