Default Anyone with the GF 8600 GT

How does this Geforce 8600 gt with 512 perform? I am about to purchase it, but some of my friends are saying it's kinda outdated already...

How are your experiences with it?

If at all possible, please consider purchasing at least an 8800gt.

I would not buy an 8600gt at this point (since the 8800gt is quite affordable).

    8600GT's are not outdated

Especially if your going to get an 8600 GTS edition, which is barley below the performance of an 8800GT, for half the price

Problem is, it is inside a laptop with a dual core 2.4 and 4 gb ram. I can't afford a laptop with 8800. So my main question is if it will handle games like Crysis, CoD4 and AoC.

From my experience with an 8600 GT desktop gpu, you can run CoD4 max, Crysis on high, and AoC on mostly high/medium

It works really well for me... it might not be the most advanced card? But everything that I've played so far has looked really great. I haven't tried AoC yet, but I plan to buy it soon. I'm also using the 8600 GT on a laptop PC.

Crysis is a maybe if you want it to work with that.

Now Cod4 and that other game, AoC? (age of conan?) It probably will be able to run it.

Crysis will eat your card alive......

if you have vista and directx 10 crysis will probably be too demanding for anything but on some high and most on medium settings......

I had to over clock my already BFG 8800 GT OC to get to play it on ultra high, and even on very high at some levels it starts to lay the smack down on my card.....

forgot the level but it was close to the end where it started to go all out.....

for other games you probably can get away with high settings.......

oh and laptops aren't for high end gaming ......they over heat and the parts aren't as good as a desktop and cost way more.

so no crysis probably wouldn't run well on a laptop....

if you want to play high end games I suggest you get a desktop and build one since they are very cheap $550 for me lol....

So basically it does not matter which card I have cause it's laptop?

MY friend runs CoD4 and Crysis on High-Ultra high with a 9500 GS 512 mb ram and his laptop is an Asus. And since the 8600 GT only is about 10-15% more bad than 9500 I was considering getting it. Together with the processor it should be able to run at least Crysis on Med and AoC ( age of conan) on med/high... But I guess not?

my comp at home(in my siggy) plays games like COD4, and aoc very well. though the 8600gt isnt good at high resolutions, but 1024x768 is better than anything tho

I use an 8600 GT which i bought about a year ago, and Crysis works fine on medium settings. It also runs smoothly if i put older games like 2142 running on near highest settings. But as of right now, the 8800's are the ones to consider..unless you're really low on funds or something. (the 8600 is now cheeaapppp o.o)

It may be better to buy a 9400 . But a 8600 is not that outdated though.

unless you are playing at 200000000x2000000000 resolutions I don't see how a Geforce 8600 512mb can't run crysis at least on medium settings and other games pretty well with that laptop's spec

Also I am using a card that is the competitor to the 8600 GT.
A lot of people review and compare it to the 8600 GT so I find it relevant.

its just weird. my friend plays AoC on highest with a quad core and the 8600 gt and he gets 70 fps :S ... and i mean everything maxed!

i should not have any problems running it on medium at least then, eh? with a dual core 2.4 and 4 gb ram ( 64 bit vista)...?
    Are you using the intelcore2duo?

How long are they still selling it for?

OH btw, thank you very much.
