the only difference is that the companies OC cards still are under warranty but once you OC the card yourself you void the warranty....

like how my bfg 8800 gt oc has

625 MHz core clock already it used to be 600 MHz and I OCed it myself to 725 MHz

when overclocking you only get a couple of FPS in difference so it might ot be worth it...
