Because, it's simply too expensive. You can't just say "OMfg u companies make me dot. hack game plox, and they can make it out of nothing. I mean, come on, a headset that actually puts you in a fully 3D Virtual world with graphics that of real life, and millions of other players online and dozens of servers to maintain. Do you know how much money that would take? It would take millions, if not billions. Anyways, I'm playing Exteel, and world of kung fu.

I really don't think it's so much a matter of money as it is a matter of people being ready for that kind of technology. People don't realize that these things are already in the works. Just like when camera phones first came out, people didn't like them and yet nowadays it's a pretty common and well used phone option. I remember almost 9 or 10 years ago (maybe longer) I took a trip to the sony building and saw a plasma tv that was in development and when they finally released them to the public everyone thought it was so new. Chances are, the technology is already available and is being tested and will be introduced to the public gradually. till then we are stuck with 3D point n clickers...

Also I was saying "Why no one has though of a MMO with Dot.Hack Gameplay", Dot.Hack was a nice game and no Company tried to copy the Gameplay of Dot.Hack yet.

Virtual reality glasses have existed for ages people... Like for back since ps1 or even before... I remember back when I was a kid, still playing super nintendo, I bought this ancient computer mag about it. Some guy wearing the "glasses", more like huge sort of goggles, in black and red plastic that almost covered the entire head, playing some game oldschool rpg with shitty ass snes 3d.

So basically, it was just putting a screen on the inside of a helmet. However, nowhere is it stated that the goggles in .hack are anything more than this. And the people playing it in the anime still use an ordinairy handcontroller. With todays technology, you could probably make smaller sized glasses with motion sensors as well, no problem. wii-mote + screen taped to your head is more or less it.

Besides, the graphs in .hack isn't amazing. Making an mmorpg with .hack-like gameplay and graphics isn't exactly rocket science. When most people wish for a .hack mmorpg, they aren't talking about "the world" as it is supposed to be in the story, but "the world" as it is in the game. Like a .hack game online.
