By far the best 2d mmorpg is ultima online. though the ones that like chibi character look will probly say ragnarok wich is much more limited then ultima online. ultima online basicaly like living a mid evil life with great gameplay and gameplay were you use your brain and knowledge of the game. not just over powered items and stats like basicaly every mmorpg.gameplay is quik always tense can place house and customise it by each little square up to 4 stories high and pk people at it and ban people or freind people to it so they can hide in it for saftey from others. if your interested just google uogamers:hybrid for best community.

i would say maplestory until lvl 15+ then its grindy, theres also windchase grandchase ummm....the best one, i only have played one and i enjoyed maplestory the utter most. do you want it as a side view like maple story or a birds eye view?

dofus isnt 2d and its a 2.5d game with turn based and pay for extra. besides it sucks! the graphics r worse then maplestory imo

ive played all these 2d mmorpgs and more by far ultima online blows these away. maple story fun but no pvp and no endgame content couse its mainly about gameplay.dofus yea its turn based.

oh maple story when i played didnt have pvp that must be something more recent i know that was the reson why ghost online was liked over it by other people becouse at the time ghost online had pvp but maple story didnt. still lacking far from what ultima contains but if you play the newer version of ultima online its p2p but you dont want the newer version couse they added items that make pvp one sided. thats why google uogamers:hybrid.Originally Posted by Tremors45

I am pretty sure MapleStory doesn't have PvP... at least not for MapleGlobal for sure... unless you can prove it... please o_0.

Isn't that bit like askin which pile of poo smells better? NONE of the current 2d MMOs are ever gonna be able to hold a candle to something like Ultima or The Realm Online.
Then you have all those 2d cutesy fighter games that all feel like the same thing. If you're gonna go with a 2d fighter, why not stick with something that's actually good? Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, somethin like that?

Ive gotten into netgames Ghost, not the malaysian one. Too bad the netgame one is only like 15% released. Well that means later ill just love it more =D

MapleStory does have a PvP. Its in Taiwan version I think. In the PvP you don't fight each other you fight a pig in separate rooms which represents your opponent. Also the second stage is jumping quest, who ever finish first wins the PvP. Its really ******ed.
