PS2 had the best library of games. IMO that makes it the best system to own. There is something for everyone.

Reputation: 14i think people will view the best console with the one that came out around the time they started playing games.....
I personally enjoyed the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis since It was the first system I owned....my brother owned the regular Nintendo when it came out and would hog it......he and his friends would play double dragon and only let me watch....
My brothers always fought over the system which finally made my mom put her foot through it killing it....R.I.P. Nintendo we will miss you...
I mean look how happy I was when I got the consoles for christmas....( the SNES I got in 92 I believe.....and the Sega Genesis I got in 1991...
note: ( I was to lazy to cut out the other pictures so just look at the last two pictures on the bottom right...)

SNES hands down. I mean.... It had Donkey kong country!
Ps2 was too asain for me it had all the horrible japanese rpg ports
I liked the N64 the best.
Its close between NES and the N64 for me, but NES wins it by a bit cuz I loved all the old school RPGs it has.
I Loved my N64(super mario 64) and Sega Dreamcast(Sonic Adventure 1&2 Chaos!!) equally and than ps2 after that since it came later.
SNES. twas soo fun.
N64, Probably because it's the first console i ever had.
Reputation: 14not sure what it is.... all I know was that my uncle loved computers and was the first on his block to get one......ever since the 70's he was amazed with them....he didn't go to college and because of how lucky he was to enter a niche he is now a lead computer science engineer.....
I really only started getting into computers back in 92......I had an old 88 mac as my first computer.....
pc still owns all.....
I always look at pictures from back then and say damn everything looks old....the 80's seemed to be filled with browns and dark greens just like the 70's....
back then I thought the SNES graphics were amazing.....
why isnt dreamcast on that list........dreamcast was the orignal console that allowed players to unite over a console......how epic is that
Because the dreamcast failed miserably and developers stopped making games for it long before they stopped for ps2 and xbox.
I'd say the best console ever was either the SNES, or the PS1. Never liked any of the N64 games except for mario kart, and super mario 64, and the original mario kart comes from snes anyway. But SNES had the platformers in mario kart and sega, had the RPGs from Square and Enix (as they were separate then) and generally a very wide variety of games.
PS1 also had a very wide variety of games, gained Square as pretty much and exclusive developer, had decent platformers in crash bandicoot, abe's odyssey and various other games. Had very memorable games like Metal Gear Solid, Vagrant Story, Tekken 1-3 (my favourite fighting game series) and gran turismo on top of all the rpgs square produced. It's also a big reason why ps2 sales were so high.
For me, the overall winner is PS1
Reputation: 94i voted ps1 because it had spyro 1, 2 and 3 on it, **** those were good games, why cant people make platformers today like they made spyro? ;_;
N64 no doubt. SSM, Mario kart, Mario Party, greatest console ever
ps2 but ps1 and n64 are runnerups for me.
Reputation: 26PS2, according to ****ing sales. If you ask for a personal opinion that would be irrevelant because the best console is always the one you played when you were 5-12years old.
I loved my N64 and I loved my games dearly but...
If we talk about changing things, i'd have to pick the PC. It's not exactly a console but it's a gaming/entertainment system which is the perfect description for a console.
Reputation: 1151Nooooooo wayyyyy should N64 be number one.
Not a chance.
I was still playing my SNES up until I got my GameCube. SNES, hands down kids.
(I guess its the age group really...by the time you would have been getting into gaming, the N64 was popular. I started with the NES when I was reaaaaaaaaaal young, got a SNES, and skipped everything up until the GC.)
Edit: Also, I strongly agree with that.

Reputation: 11I wub my NES and Sega Genesis with expensive ass Sega CD add-on.
Old school games were fawking awwwesome.
TBH, they were much more fun to play than most modern games. Sidescrolling beat-em ups were awesome.
although, the N64 comes close, with the N64 kid as support.
The sega was sickeninngg..
I still have my old Sega Saturn, but it no worky.
