Please do not mistake this for a troll post, I am just looking for other peoples opinions and see if I am the only one that has this outlook on mmorpgs (mmokgs).
Ugh. MMORPGs were made in order to give people a way to play online with other peoples, yes, but they were also meant to give these people roles to act out while they play--hence the "Role Playing" aspect. You're supposed to play your role in that game. Don't complain about it if you're not doing it, that's your fault; you're acting of your own volition.

I really like MMORPG's bcuzz of many reasons(manly bcuzz playing solo can be bored quick/can pk,pvp/talking to others while killing/BOSS fight!)

Tank, healer, dps, support...thats not role playing, there is a difference between role playing and doing your duty. I'm not saying you have to become your character, I'm just saying they need to actually put something else in mmorpgs to make them more than mmokgs. Right now in mmorpgs, you are killing for nothing more than some numbers and some fake items. Make me want to kill for something besides meaningless junk like idk, an actual storyline (and yes, it is easily possible to place a storyline in a mmorpg and have it work well). The only reason companies don't do stuff like this is because people are just like, oh, well its a mmorpg, its supposed to be a mindless kill-a-thon, but really, they want something inventive and original. If you want people to make better mmorpgs, stop playing all the crap they are putting out. Stop spending money on cash shops/monthly fees. I'm not suggesting to actually go do it because I know that there is no way to get enough people to stop wasting money on mmorpgs to force developers to change their games. Its more of a hypothetical statement. But meh, just my opinion and now I am off to bed.

I hated NwN roleplay servers (you know, the ones where adolescent teens went on and pretended they were ****ing half naked cuz they were bored) but I love mmorpgs..role play just means you HAVE a role..for instance I have a halfling bard on DDO my role in a team is to buff using songs, heal, and shoot things with my crossbow...

"strict" roleplay means your supposed to walk talk and act like you are the role not just have the role and a lot of people don't have the need/courage/want/etc. to actually do that so you should discriminate them just because they don't like to.

its threads like this that make me wonder why people even come to mmorpg forums nowadays if you dont want mindless killing play a P2P game most of them have storylines or better yet a B2P Guild wars has 20 levels which u get to by like half of the game lol.

Now for the real question what motivated you before to level up....

Cause if its mindless you would never have started playing mmorpgs unless your an idiot?

For me its pvp...i level for pvp i get gears for pvp. I dont play games without some kind of pvp element unless im just looking for mindless fun (maplestory)

If your dissapointed in mmorpgs as a whole id say u must be fairly new to the onrpg world. If your scared to use ur credit card on the internet to play a p2p game then meh thats ur own problem have fun with the typical f2p games that keep comming out.

And carry on making pointless threads like this.....

Reason why im flaming u is because

Great games such as Ragnarok, Guildwars, City of heroes, LOTRO, DDO, WoW (i hate it but it is successful), FFXI and many many more

Are all mmorpgs as well and they are simply amazing im back playing ragnarok after a 1 year break and i havent played an mmorpg so much without getting bored in ages. Stop playing F2P games the companies dont have enough money to give u what your looking for.

Like said by Cyberchink sooooo many times "You get what you pay for"

Yeah, no role playing in MMORPG's suck. I was playing guild wars the other day, guild wars is classified as a CORPG game. A lot of people were online, but, no one was role playing at all. No one was being cooperative. People don't even care about the freaking storyline. When ever I watch the cut scenes in guild wars, I automatically get kicked when we get to the town.
